That’s where you’re wrong though. I don’t oppose going out and experiencing other cultures. In fact, the reason I oppose the kind of globalist sentiment of Bourdain and his ilk is because these unique cultures and peoples will be lost forever if they get their way. People don’t go to Germany to experience Arab and Islamic culture. There are lots of other countries where people could have that if they wanted it. People go to Germany to experience Germany, and Bourdain and his associate on screen don’t believe in that. They want the entire world blended up to “eliminate racism”, but they can’t say what their real motivation is. That’d be a little too revealing.

 

Agreed depression is a sickness. It's also the most common reason for suicide with Robin Williams and, probably, Kate Spade. However, that doesn't appear to be the reason for Bourdain's suicide. Although he was a recovering drug addict, he seemed to be fine and enjoyed life. There's the possibility that he found out he was sick or dying such as brain or pancreatic cancer.

 

Now you diagnose? The moment I became a father I knew my priorities and taking the selfish route is a cheap way out.

Wow. The man had everything going for him and decided to off himself. Success, money, fame, does not mean happiness. Having enough to live on without suffering materially might help one to be happy though, especially if one had suffered prior by not having enough.

I did not agree with all of his political views, but I used to enjoy his programs. He seemed to be a good guy. And was once addicted to heroin. But shook that addiction which is very hard or so I hear.

 

Since you seem to be concerned about depression and the human psyche, you should know that people who are mean, aggressive, cranky, etc are usually in pain themselves....or they are mentally ill such as having an antisocial personality disorder.

I have to admit, wasn't a big fan of Anthony. Not because his show wasn't interesting as a travel to the place you yourself might never go to kind of show, it was his smug. His commentary was always couched in this internal wrapper of endless smug. Smug about being cool enough to be him, to appreciate the things he did, etc. And frankly, it was offputting. Give me Andrew Zimmern any day of the week. He at least takes you to places, invests in the local foods, and is actually informative without being an ass.

One hopes though, that Anthony found what he was looking for. I have empathy for those he left behind to find their own way.

Skin tone is one of the smallest differences in human beings. Bourdain discussion was lamenting the awful effects of racism and the happy projection that, using the "Singaporean model", eventually everyone would mix to the point all were the same skin tone. That's not genocide. Those who blanche (<--see what I did there?) at the prospect of "mixing races" are self-identifying themselves as white supremacists.

Race is very much real, you could identify someone’s race by DNA alone. And you know within a second of meeting someone which race they belong to.

And yes, what Bourdain was supporting was genocide. Taking ANY action that purposely seeks to reduce the population of, or destroy, a race of people is an act of genocide per the UN definition.
