That's pretty much irrelevant since the GDP per capita is actually not equally shared. One super-rich and a million of starving people can have combined a very nice GDP per capita.
Instead, you need to measure the incomes of the majority of the people.
The quality of life in the Scandinavian countries is way higher than the quality of life of the Americans.
The GDP per capita in the USA is some 20% higher than the GDP per capita in Sweden. But that number is useless. Because the percent of the people living under and close to the poverty line in USA is much higher than in Sweden. And the criminality is much higher.
There are many places in the USA which are really horrible. Like for example entire quarters of Chicago and even New York. These two countries are impossible to compare.

And that's because of the corruption. The politicians are sold to the super-rich and they are doing their best to increase the poverty of the people, just like Bush, Clinton and Obama also did.
This situation has nothing to do with socialism and it's all about corruption.

As long as you are promoting one ideology or another, you are doing a great service to the super-rich, because they invented and created all the political setup, including the ideologies, in order to increase the poverty of the people.
The solution doesn't come from socialism or from capitalism, the solution comes from reducing corruption.
And the politics are the mirror of the society so the people have to start reducing the corruption from inside themselves first, in order to be able to reduce the corruption in the administration.

Such replies shows again and again how deeply criminal and murderous is the Western mindset.
The workers are unsuccessful because the politicians and the super-rich are stealing their money and they are doing their best to drag the people into deeper and deeper poverty.
So of course they are unsuccessful :)
Of course I'm unsuccessful, the boss of the business where I worked for 11 years was stealing from me about 100,000 Euro in total, by not paying me the extra hours. And the criminal system and the laws made by the criminals in power are protecting my former boss.
In the Western mindset, the thieves and the criminals are heroes and their victims should be always humiliated and treated like trash.
The incompetent bankers are not capable to do their work and the banks are getting bankrupt. And then they ask the poor people to pay the damages. And after that, they give valuable lessons to their victims about work ethics: "If you work hard you will make it!"
As you can see, if you are an incompetent or even criminal banker then you will make it. Also, if you are a criminal executive in a corporation and steal the money of the shareholders then you will make it (General Motors, Enron, Worldcom, Texaco etc)
And if you are an honest worker you will be worked to death.
So the Western people are actually educated to think like terrorists and to become terrorists.
The Western trade is actually economic terrorism.

But in any case, this is nothing unexpected. It is totally unrealistic to expect a criminal to talk like a decent person. They will always blame their victims, of course. And the criminal super-rich people are doing their best to promote this criminal mindset. That's exactly why the situation is so deteriorated today and the people are insulting the victims of the criminals.
Because the super-rich managed to be quite successful into turning this world into a living nightmare for the decent and honest people.

Let's say I run a woodworking business, producing furniture for sale.

Let's also say that I hire an employee to sharpen my chisels, plane blades, drill bits, etc.

Can you tell me how I am stealing money from this person I've hired?

This is exactly the same kind of thing the slave owners will tell to their slaves.
This is exactly the same kind of thing the rich who starved the poor in Ireland (1850) would have told to their victims.
The Western culture is a criminal culture since a long time ago and it didn't change much.

You know that the famine was caused by the British state right? Not free markets or private property rights.

It was the conservative, states-rightist, Republicans, claiming a love of family & children, and a hatred of centralized government who committed the malfeasance under Trump's directive. How do we explain that? How can we support or defend that? How can ANYONE use their vote to prolong that? In my opinion, anyone who does betrays everything American within him/her.

I don't defend or support statism at all. I consider the state to be a criminal organization.

In reality, the state is whatever those empowered to run it make it. It reflects the character & values of its leaders. That can be good or bad. Statistically, it's probably been more bad than good. But, exceptions exist.

That's true, but it's NOT the WHOLE truth. Government also builds roads & bridges, establishes, staffs & manages schools, provides some help to the unemployed &/or needy; provides law enforcement staff, etc. Like everything connected to life, it has its different facets, good & bad.

It depends on the wage of the worker and it depends on your incomes. It also depends if the politicians and the laws are helping the business owner to exploit and to steal the money from the worker. In many African countries for example, you can only open a business if you are connected to the corrupt politicians. So there is no competition, no free markets and the products are overpriced because of that. It also depends if you are actually competing or if you are a part of a cartel involved in a price fixing conspiracy.

The sense of measure is a fundamental human quality. Without it, it is impossible for the people to have decent and normal relations and even a meaningful communication.
So first of all, you should provide some numbers or some percents, as a measure for the incomes I was mentioning above.
How much is the wage of the worker? The medium USA wage? Or maybe 10 times higher than that? Or maybe 10% of the medium wage?
And how much is the income of the owner?

There is no one answer to cover all those situations. There is no one-in-all answer. It depends on the specific situation.
The good and the honest businessmen exist. In fact, the vast majority of the private investors are probably honest people because they are just trying to make a living from their business (they are the self-employed).
But the bad businessmen and corporate executives also exist.
Henry Ford and Samuel Insull are truly inspiring business owners because they lowered their incomes in order to protect their workers and their consumers. And that's because they were not part of the cult of selfishness and the culture of greed that the Western culture is today. In that era, it was not unthinkable for the business owners to take care of the people around themselves.
And those things even show the way forward. Because the egalitarianism and the fraternity will be the only way to survive in the times ahead. The super-rich are doing their best to collapse the economy and then even the society. They were pretty successful until now so..
In those conditions, without being part of a community that actually works and that it's capable to defend itself in front of the organized crime and terrorist groups, the chances to survive will be really small.

But as a general rule, any income above the medium wage is theft. It is only decent to live from a medium wage - I mean the medium wage in the Western countries.
Once your income is above the medium wage (I mean in the wage per working hour ofc), the goods you are selling are overpriced, and that actually means theft. Such goods and services mean overpricing the consumer or even the tax payer. And that also means there is no real competition. Once you have real competition, you will lower your income to the level of the medium income, in order to be able to provide better prices to the consumers and therefore to keep and to even increase your market share.
And my claim is actually supported by the US justice: Microsoft was fined for selling overpriced products. Inflated wages means overpriced products. Once you lower the price of the products, the incomes of the company will be reduced, and that will reduce the incomes of the people working there. Or at least it will reduce the incomes of the business owners.
And therefore the community has the right to decide if your incomes are too high - or not.
You like it or not but these things are part of the reality and they are actually happening.

If we had no socialism, you could say goodbye to the fire dept, police dept, public schools, public hospitals, Highway dept's, water dept, the court system and all other programs provided for by the Fed/state/local governments.

She is a young congresswoman from an extremely liberal district. I do not get the idea that she favors any kind of totalitarian dictatorship. Most advanced, successful countries have some degree of socialism. Almost all of them have socialized medical care system.

These doomsday scare tactics have been used by right wingers for several decades. When you look beneath the surface it becomes obvious that these so called conservatives are absolute whores to the petroleum, insurance and pharmaceutical industries and are financed by their respective lobbies who write their legislation for them. Only simple minded people buy into this propaganda.

Cortez is only one of 435 members of the House of Representatives and a junior member at that. Just the fact that the right wing spin masters are totally fixated on her tells me they are scared to death that she might expose their sacred cow benefactors. She must be on the right track.

Of course, I understand this is exactly the kind of reply you can expect from someone who support the super-rich in their quest for always increasing the poverty of the people. There are many people who are truly devoted to the super-rich and they would do anything to support those super-rich so I'm not expecting you do say anything decent.

The problem is that too many people can't even find a job because the politicians are outsourcing the jobs in China..
But once again, you pretend you don't understand that.. which is once again nothing unexpected..

You are putting words in my mouth.. which is again nothing unexpected..
I never claimed that all the business owners are exploiting their workers. By the contrary, I was also providing examples of honest business men - Henry Ford & Samuel Insull. It would really help the conversation if you learn to read the replies of the people talking with you first.
You are inventing things because you would to anything to support the super-rich. For some certain reasons, I guess.
But in my particular case the employer is a criminal, he even served in prison for that. So this is confirmed by the very palpable reality.

It's hard to treat your employer as a customer when you can't even find a job, isn't it?
It is also hard to treat your employer as a customer when you know he can get a licence to do business but you can't - because he is connected to the corrupt politicians in power.
It is also hard to treat your employer as a customer when you know that your employer is actually stealing the money of the workers, of the shareholders, of their customers, of the tax payers etc
It is also hard to treat your employer as a customer when you know that your employer is doing it's best to increase the poverty of the population (in case you work for a bank responsible for the real-estate
speculation and the crash of the economy in 2008
It is also hard to treat your employer as a customer when you know that your employer is actually a criminal, isn't it?
My former employer was even involved in smuggling and money laundering. He was even serving in prison for that. And he is still shamelessly exploiting his workers. Because the government doesn't care to check such a criminal. They know he is a criminal yet they refuse to check if they treat their workers well.
As I said, there are good employers and bad employers. And therefore it is utterly absurd to pretend they should all be treated the same.
You keep using a vague and general language, suggesting that an employer is automagically becoming a good guy simply because he is giving you a job.

Your claim has nothing to do with the things I was commenting. You are even inventing things. I never suggested such things. My point was that the ideologies can't be good or bad - it's only the people using those ideologies that can be good and bad. Also my point was that the solution to the economic and social problems is to reduce the corruption, instead of promoting one ideology or another.
Or maybe you think I'm someone else?

Sorry but you are becoming incoherent
This is not about feeling victimized. I was giving real life examples of people being exploited by their workers. It is only coincidence that I was also involved in such situations.
The way you react shows once again how deeply criminal and terrorist is the Western mindset - according to this mindset, an employer should be always respected no matter how much they hurt the people around them.

No, that's your absurd, aberrant and phantasmagorical views on reality.
You also understand taxation the way you please, you pretend that reality doesn't exist, you are distorting reality and on top of that you suggest that I made some claims that I actually never made.

The capitalist systems do not work, as anyone can see. The capitalist countries are not capable to pay their debts and the poverty is always increasing.

But in the end it all boils down to the fact that you support the theft of the super-rich and of the murderers and criminals like Barack Obama and Tony Blair.
They create economic crisis, by increasing speculation, debt and trade deficit. The economic crisis are programmed, they just don't happen. They are planned with many years and decades in advance.

Your angry and infuriated replies can't change the reality.
These mass murderers are very close to collapsing the economy and then even the collapse of the society and your fancy ideas about ideologies and your absurd claims won't be of much use to save the people who believe in such outlandish ideas.

Sorry but your reply is truly pathetic.
I was talking about the criminal bankers, criminal top executives and criminal politicians in power (the establishment) who are making a lot of money by stealing from the poor and who are always increasing the poverty and who are even starving the people - to death when possible.
And about the cult of selfishness and the culture o greed and the criminal mindset they are creating.
This is not about hate. This is about being realistic and about understanding the true nature of the reality.
And the reality is that for the decent people the only way to go forward is to stay as far away as they can from those criminal people and also from those who are supporting them.

I can't envy such pathetic human beings, murderers and satanists like Obama, Clinton, Bush or Blair. That's absolutely an impossibility.
You are inventing things and that's nothing unexpected because the arguments of the super-rich and of their supporters are always based on Pure Lies and on smearing and slander.

The famine was created by the super-rich who controlled the politics. But it was also maintained by the rich landlords who ejected the poor people from the land.
It doesn't matter if those super-rich claim they are capitalists or socialists (like those ridiculous Silicon Valley billionaires). They are still the same miserable blood drinkers, criminals, assassins and mass murderers.

Of course the famine was not created by the free markets nor by private property rights. But it was created by the super-rich who changed the property rights in order to facilitate the starving of the poor people to death.

And today they are using exactly the same principles - nothing really changed. For them, the capitalism and the socialism are just instruments they are using in order to drag the people into deeper and deeper poverty. That's the very reason why they even invented the whole political game in the first place.

As long as the USSR existed, the Western governments were many times positive, they did a lot to improve the lives of the people.
But they only did that because they had a strong competitor. Their true intentions are and were not positive at all.
After the fall of the communism (1989), the Western governments started to show their real intentions: to drag the people into deeper poverty.

More important than the current mindset of any entity is their true intentions. A well trained eye could recognize their true intentions even since the 1960's without much effort.

And the Western governments are criminal organizations that serve the super-rich.
