Concealed Carry Hero Takes Out Active Shooter

A patient with a concealed weapon in a dental office took out an active shooter who had just murdered his own wife.

MSM fails to cover a story where numerous lives were "potentially" saved by a citizen exercising their right to carry a gun in the United States of America! Just to be clear, it is possible that the gunman was only there to shoot his wife. I stipulate that here and now. Of course, nobody knows for sure what his next action was going to be and thank the good Lord that we didn't have to find out.

Why is it not important to make this a main story by all news sites that would have made it a main story had the shooter killed numerous people?

There are hundreds of MSM stories about this currently. Go read something.

I noticed the Title of your Linked article is:

Armed Patient Takes Out 'Active Shooter' At Tennessee Dental Office
    ___________

The Article Title makes no mention of "Concealed carry hero".

Anyway, the incident seems like much ado about nothing.

Some guy killed his wife, and then somebody shot the killer.

Just another day in Trump's America.:bored:

Exactly as I said and here are quotes from article:

“Luckily, we had a citizen with a concealed carry permit stop the violent confrontation and hold him at bay,” Sheriff Cassidy said.

"A concealed carry permit holder saw the threat, took action on the threat and stood by until officers arrived," Sheriff Cassidy said. "We're calling him a hero today."

The OP belongs in the Gun Control forum because it VIOLATES the Current Event Forum Rules regarding the Thread Title and the OP fails to establish a basis for respectful discussion and debate.

Secondly this incident is being patently ABUSED to attack the Media.

When it comes to what actually transpired what is NOTEWORTHY is that FIREARM related KILLINGS have become so COMMONPLACE that they no longer achieve national attention.

The NRA only has itself to blame for this happening because they have PROMOTED a gun culture where shootings like these happen every day all across the nation.

This is a self inflicted problem that needs to be addressed by those who are the CAUSE of these rampant killing.

To blame the media is DISINGENUOUS.

    Great post.

You hit all of the correct notes (in pointing out the flaws in the OP).

And, to another point that you made:

Some guy shoots somebody in a small town in Tennessee, and some people are expecting 9/11-style coverage?

    Go figure.

    Gotta be a 2nd Amendment thing?:bored:

Google is your friend. Google the event, click the 'news' tab and you'll find hundreds of reports from MSM covering this.

Every MSM covered this. You're the only one who doesn't know about it.

I corrected the thread title and this should remain in Current Events. It is a gun issue and each time there has been a mass shooting those events have been discussed here.

BUT, this ISN'T a "Mass Shooting".

    Not even close.

Let me restate the original position. It is not being covered on the main pages of MSM that I have found. It is news that is exactly the opposite of a mass shooting when it could have been a mass shooting. I should not have to Google for news.

Had the hero not been there, we don't know what it could have been. They have not defined the motive. Others may have been killed and it could have been a mass shooting then. The hero with "the gun" potentially saved many!

It's a single shooting, a local event. There are about 36 gun murders a day in the US. If the national newspapers covered every individual shooting in the US their front pages would only be shootings.

It was a domestic murder is all. No big deal. Posted in the wrong forum, a waste of everyone's time.

So only if the killer had killed 2 or 3 or 4 or more would it be worth the time of this forum? Then it would be an event worthy to be discussed because that bad gun killed people as opposed to the good gun that stopped those people from being killed?

Thank you for establishing that this does NOT belong in Current Events because what you actually want to discuss is GUNS!

Aren't guns a political issue that is discussed here all the time when there are shootings?

Yes, but NOT in Current Events.

Pushing the nefarious NRA Agenda regarding Concealed Carry belongs in the Gun Control forum.

You also realize that your linked article is MISLEADING? Correct?

To "Take out" someone means to KILL them.

    take out

to murder somebody get rid of them for good

    ___________

The perp was only SHOT (and very much alive when police arrived).

Sullivan County Sheriff Jeff Cassidy told news outlets that a bystander at David A. Guy Dentistry in Kingsport then shot the man and held him until officers arrived. Cassidy said the bystander was legally licensed to carry a weapon. He called him a hero who "took care of the situation until police officers arrived."

    :applause:

Tennessee doesn't attract a lot of the straight "A" students out of journalism colleges.

Take out does not mean kill necessarily. It means, in this instance, eliminate the threat!

Way to minimize what was a extremely traumatic and possibly heroic action by a common citizen. Take off your partisan blinders.
