As Israel continues atrocities, US continues to be its lap dog

Since 1947, Israel has been committing atrocities on Palestinian land as the world watches on. As Jimmy Carter put it:

“It is unlikely that real progress can be made...as long as Israel insists on its settlement policy, illegal under international laws that are supported by the United States and all other nations"

Indeed, it is only a heartless monster or someone without basic knowledge of history who could defend Israel's actions. Israelis are not the victims. They are the aggressors and have been since 1947 and before. Sadly, it is continued US support that has allowed Israel to commit these atrocities. Put an end to all aid and support for Israel and surely it will be forced to consider its actions.

 

Carter has been President of the United States. I'm not aware of great deeds by the State Department during his mandate to create the State of Palestine ...

Israel has been committing atrocities since its inception. Hamas is only a recent development and only an answer to Israel's continued aggression. Israel kills, slaughters, steals land and commits millions of other violations to international law and yet the Palestinians are at fault for merely fighting back. What crap!

Stop being so judgmental and look into the history of the conflict. Condoning criminal actions is also an atrocity in itself. AS Pierce Mrogan put it:

According to Haaretz, Israel's Interior Minister, Eli Yishai, said this about Israel's attacks on Gaza: "The goal of the operation is to send Gaza back to the Middle Ages." Let me know if any of the US Sunday talk shows mention that tomorrow during their discussions of this "operation".

Gilad Sharon, the son of former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, has an Op-Ed in today's Jerusalem Post in which, among other things, he writes [emphasis added]:

"We need to flatten entire neighborhoods in Gaza. Flatten all of Gaza. The Americans didn't stop with Hiroshima – the Japanese weren't surrendering fast enough, so they hit Nagasaki, too.

"There should be no electricity in Gaza, no gasoline or moving vehicles, nothing."

The Israel Times recently published a article saying genocide in Gaza is permissible.

Are these the people you are defending? Are these the actions you condone?

One must also stop pretending that the US is some sort of helpless, uninvolved party in this war between two distant, foreign entities. That is complete fiction. If an American citizen really wants to advocate for neutrality on the ground that both sides are equally horrible and they're sick of the whole conflict and wish it would all just go away, then the place to begin with that advocacy is US government policy which, as unpleasant as it might be to face, has long been, and remains more than ever, a key force that drives the bloodshed.
