We can measure the global mean temperature to within 0.05C and even lower if reanalysis is used. Even skeptics (the Berkeley Earth project) agree with this. We can even measure the mean temperature of Venus or Mars albeit with far less accuracy than we do here on Earth. Actually, measuring the global temperature of Earth isn't even remarkable in the realm of scientific measurement. Afterall 0.05C is less than 1 part in 10,000 which is mind numbingly mundane compared to other realms of science. You have a device in your pocket that takes measurements on the order 1 part in 10,000,000. This is your phone when using GPS. LIGO currently holds the record with a measurement of 1/10000th the width of a proton over a distance of 4 km. This is 1 part in 10 with 21 zeros followed behind.

According to Berkeley Earth the global mean surface temperature for November 2018 (the latest available) was 14.984C ± 0.05C.

They certainly aren't perfect, but they do quite well.

But, if you could answer my questions you would. The difference between my beliefs and a religion is that the preponderance of evidence is behind my belief, not yours. My belief is in science which is proven, yours is in something else which had been done anything.

oh you got me such a master debater. You're so victorious.

oh you got me again you're just too good.

I'm not aware that I voiced a positive belief, but since you're so good at debates you must be right.

What was my belief again because I don't know what it is.

Oh, are you saying you accept the scientific consensus?

None of these things are about debate tactics. The point is being right.

Yeah, you kinda do if you want people to believe that "somebody is lying" or that the global mean temperature has "not risen any over the past 15 years".

Being convincing requires being open to questions.

Try it out on me. Ask me anything related to climate change and I'll do my best to answer.

If you're right why is it so important to convince me?

You've already called me a denier and said whatever my beliefs are what wrong despite me not voicing any.

If you're right and you know you are why are you bothering with me?

Because we don't have a problem with science or knowledge. We have a problem with politics and will.

    okay then, make me.

if being convincing is important to you then go be convincing. When I don't care about convincing you of anything being convincing is not an objective.

I'll tell you what I told the Jehovah's witnesses that knocked on my door the other day. I am not interested put me on the Do Not Call list.

I believe the forum has the equivalent of a Do Not Call list, but unfortunately I'm not able to prevent you from seeing my posts. I think this is something you'll have to do by going into my profile and clicking the ignore button in the upper right. I've never done this before so I don't really know how it works or how effective it is.

Well I'm studying metallurgy which I was told was an applied science. I guess I'm just a primative buffoon because when 90 or even a thousand people are in consensus that a piece of Rusty metal can't possibly be stainless steel I still use the EDXA to know for sure.

Well, a thousand people is nothing. That being said, what's your point?

Oh you better go tell the moderators that I'm violating a rule by forfeiture of debate.

Wait a minute .. if I forfeited and you are still hassling me, you are breaking the rules.

I don't know. Finding out for sure verses just talking what people say as granted send like science to me but what do I know. In just a heretic...oh wait denier, sorry.

So until everyone has a doctorate in some climate science, we all just assume there's no problems? So, just smoke cigarettes until you get your md and can believe that doctors are right about not smoking?

you don't have to respond to me. But as long as you do I'm going to toy with you because I find it entertaining.

Personally I'm not interested in ignoring you. I find it fascinating how one religion is replaced by another.

So, other than climate change, you agree that it's a good idea to listen to scientific consensus?
