    I'd like to just put this out there to make it clear because there still seems to be some confusion in regards to this.

    There is no such thing as a self defense law on PF.

    Responding to rule violations with rule violations of your own does not excuse you just because "He started it". It doesn't work that way. If you see somebody violating the rules then report it to us and we will handle it. If somebody insults you, no manner how bad it is, report it to us, DO NOT respond back to them in the same manner. If you do then both of you get violations.

    So as hard as it is to do, don't punch back, just walk away. You can defend yourself sure, but do so within the confines of the rules we have here. We see this time and time and time again.

    Here's what screws people up. A lot of members here think they are slick, they know exactly how the Mods operate and know what we probably will or will not see. Some members are extremely good at baiting people into traps. They'll cuss you out or do something to purposefully stir the pot and then wait for you to respond in kind then BAM they will will report you. They KNOW we Mods mainly only read the reported cue and they KNOW we probably won't see what caused you to break the rules.

    We get PM's daily saying something like "Are you serious? I got a warning for that? Did you see where he told me to go (*)(*)(*)(*) myself?"

    Nope, we probably didn't see that. Not unless you reported it to us.

    A lot of members know how to "work the system" so to speak. That is one of the reasons we tell people time and time again to NOT fight back around here. We don't read entire threads most of the time, we read individual posts that are reported to us. So if somebody cussed you out 2 pages ago and you respond cussing them back out and THEY report YOU then guess who gets in trouble? You do. Why? Because unless YOU reported THEM then we didn't see THEM cuss YOU out. All we saw is you cussing them out.

    Perception is reality around here. We don't have the time nor the manpower to do a lot of "investigating" here. We encourage our members to moderate each other because we simply do not have enough Mods to comb through this forum all day. I hear this all the time as well. "I'm a grown adult I don't go cry to the Mods when I have an issue with something". If you want Mod intervention in a matter then YOU HAVE TO REPORT IT to us, period. If you have an issue with "telling on people" because you think its immature or whatever then we can't help you and you are only doing yourself a disservice. Because I 100% promise you that not all members share your sentiments. They WILL "go cry to the Mods" on YOU.

    So please, moderate each other, report rule violations, and have the courage and maturity to walk away when somebody insults you. Don't fall into bait traps that some members pull around here and don't virtual punch somebody back if they virtual punch you first.

    Do I really need to go back and find posts insulting me that were 10x more insulting that what he posted? Why would I?

    All that dude said was he didn't understand why anyone would want to live in Russia... Who (*)(*)(*)(*)ing cares? That isn't insulting that is merely an personal idea....

    I don't want to live in Russia with their failing economy and sketchy local governments does that insult you?

    I'm saying the same thing he said...

    Now what is wrong with not wanting to live in Russia and having reasons not to?

    So you came up with all of that because some US citizens have no desire to live in Russia for the obvious reasons?

    You from the Soviet era or something?

    I'm a US citizen that has no desire to live in Russia for numerous reasons - is that an issue? that is my FREEDOM and my FREEDOM of decision.ms

    It seems you have an issue with that - because I don't feel the need to go to Russia I must be somehow biased or some (*)(*)(*)(*)......

    You do realize I'm a hockey player and if the KHL (even teir II) offered me a contract I would probably go play for the money - if it was a good contract with nice living conditions?

    What about say one board labeled "Christian, faith-friendly" and the other "Athiest/Agnostic, fact-friendly"? Or something similar, but clearly labeled that these boards are for the members who essentially wear the labels. For instance, I as an agnostic wouldn't go to the Christian board and start questioning their faith.

    I'm merely speculating here but I think the reason why we don't do that is because this is a political forum, not a religion forum. In theory the religion forum is supposed to deal with religion as it pertains to society and the separation of church and state and whatnot. We just sort of let people talk about anything religious related in there because the members here who wish to discuss those things dont really have anywhere else on the board to do so.

    Its basically the same reason why our Gun Control forum isn't limited to just "gun control". We allow members to talk about what type of pistol or ammo they think is best and things like that because there isn't really anywhere else on this forum to do that. Technically it could go in "off topic" or "casual chat" but since most of the gun folks hang out in the gun control forum anyway we just sort of let it go.

    HELL....someone is saying something nasty about me or to me or even about my parents or where I live ON A DAILY BASIS!!!

    But I have not placed NOT ONE SINGLE MEMBER ON IGNORE...EVER!!!

    Why?

    Because they are but WORDS!!!

    So what if someone hates where you live or hates your ideology or even hates you??? SO WHAT!!???

    Unless a member is directly threatening you...and I mean DIRECTLY...not as in....I WILL KILL YOU IF YOU KEEP IT UP!!!.....people say they will kill someone a million times and I do to such as I say to my Dentist...."I will kill you if you don't get back to me on what time you will be ready to be picked up for the game tonight!!"

    But if someone say's....."I am PLANNING ON KILLING YOU!!! I fully intend to come over to your home or work and kill you!!"....well.....THAT'S DIFFERENT!!!

    But my point is that although there are MANY members of this forum who could use a few good lessons in MANNERS and ETIQUETTE....because they are members of the Human Race another member is bound to run into a few IDIOTS who for no other reason that their own life is so boring or for the reasons that the last time they got laid Nixon was in office.......SUCH PEOPLE ARE GOING TO SAY MEAN, HATEFUL, ENVIOUS, JEALOUS AND REALLY STUPID THINGS!!!

    But so as it is in life....so it is on this FORUM!!!

    So those of you who have such a THIN SKIN.....better thicken it up a bit unless you want to drive yourself crazy worrying about and confronting every single mean. thoughtless, idiotically stupid and uninformed post YOU WILL RECEIVE FROM OTHER MEMBERS ON THIS FORUM!!!

    So...as my Dad said to me when I crashed head first into a White Pine tree while learning to ride my bike as I veered off course an ended up zooming down the side of a tree filled hill and smacking my head real hard into a White Pine causing blood to gush out of a nasty gash on my forehead......well Dad said...."SUCK IT UP AND WALK IT OFF!!!"

    "THEN GET BACK ON THE BIKE AND TRY AGAIN!!!"

    Honestly....some members need to toughen up a bit!

    Some people may have thin skin but many people might just be doing what we request them to do in regards to reporting offensive posts. This is politics, things don't get much more heated than politics but the vision of the Site Owner of PF is for this place to be a forum of respectable and civilized debate. So the posts insulting people or that do not coincide with that vision are removed in order to maintain a non hostile environment as per the request of the Owner.

    I'm sure there are a handful of people who get real life upset over some of the stuff they read here, I'm sure there are a handful of people who actually lose sleep over what they read here, but I think many members are just reporting rule violations in order to help maintain the Mission Statement of PF. Which is highly appreciative since we Mods can't see even close to everything that goes on here.

    Many of the reported posts received are from third party observers who aren't even involved in that particular debate. We get plenty of posts from members who just happen to read through threads and see a violation and let us know about it.

    It's not so much about members needed to toughen up, it's just that there is no real reason to disrespect another persons opinion no matter how crazy it may seem. Plenty of other forums on the internet have less rules than we do here at PF, but I think one of the main reasons why PF is the largest of the political forums is because of the respectful climate that we try very hard to maintain here.

    The problem is that the it seems that the staff only enforces rule 2. We have other rules. We have a rule against trolling and thread derailment. It carries the same point penalty as a rule 2 violation but it is seldom if ever enforced. As a member I care more if someone is trying to derail a good discussion because they dont like the subject matter than if someone calls me a miserable jackass. Calling me a mother (*)(*)(*)(*)er only effects me. But when someone is obliviously trying to stop discussion in an entire thread that effect the entire forum negatively. But good luck getting mods to enforce thread derailment and trolling. >>>MOD EDIT<<< If the rules were actually being enforced this guy would have been permabanned 100 times over by now. But moderation is on record as saying that 'thread derailment and trolling are too subjective to enforce.' Even though it effects the forum more negatively than any other rule violation.

    Well the reason it seems like we only enforce rules 2 and 3 is because those are the majority of the reports we receive. Rule 11 is another one. Instead of reporting thread derail's it seems like many members just choose to ignore it or at least not report them to us very frequently. We do handle the thread derail reports that we receive but as I said before we aren't able to comb through this forum on a daily basis to read each thread so we can't catch things like that unless they are reported to us.

    Unfortunately you do not have the man...and woman...power to keep PF as some Beacon of Light concerning maintaining a respectful climate....which I am all for believe me!!

    The ONLY time I ever complained is when the PF created a rule that has since been removed that said...."If a member posts something as FACT.....and cannot back it up as being so with at least a LINK to a VIABLE SOURCE....then that member should either remove the post or at the very least state it is OPINION.

    That RULE lasted..what...how long??

    Not long because you guy's simply did not have the resources.

    But I can tell you as being a very controversial member here on Political Forum and the coming to past of my many Predictions makes me all the bigger of a target for anyone I prove wrong....and that's OK...because I am not some WALL FLOWER and I can take it.....I also see some members who are complaining to you about EXACTLY what they do to others on a daily basis.

    And I am not talking about any current WOLF AVATAR on this particular topic.

    Every now and then I get a Warming from the Mod's and I abide by it because I KNOW it is a thankless job and you cannot police this entire site unless you chose not to have a LIFE.

    But my POINT is.....there are members who I have seen many times completely GO OFF THE RESERVATION only to find them COMPLAINING about other members on a Topic like this and it kind of makes me see them as GIRLY MEN or WEAK WOMEN!!

    And I definitely don't want any hate replies over the WEAK WOMEN statement because many members KNOW I have stated I am an Alpha Male who is also a FEMINIST!!!

    This is why I said...some members need to THICKEN THEIR SKINS!!!

    The Ownership DOES NOT HAVE THE RESOURCES to Police everything and eventually someone is going to have their FEELINGS HURT if they so allow them to be!!!

    Perhaps the membership themselves could handle most of the issues being discussed. We are all capable of calling trolls out and then ignoring them, we all can easily brush aside what we consider insulting stupidity and simply move on. Worst case....we even have an ignore function for repeat offenders so we can avoid them when self control is difficult.

    Point is, Mods are here to deal with the worst when it happens...and all to often our own reactions can place us in that category.

    I understand that but not being a RAT is just as important to me at least.

    As I always say....debate me...argue with me....and you can even be angry with my position....BUT DON'T MAKE IT PERSONAL!!!

    To do so on a Public Forum is not only stupid...in some cases it might also be dangerous.
