I'm not sure if this is behind a paywall. Here's an excerpt:

There's a few paragraphs of the NY Times article released this weekend on Biden's stamina and fitness for the office. The synopsis is that his staff reschedule diplomacy trips on his behalf to make sure he has enough nap time. They are also fearful that he's going to make additional gaffes whenever he speaks in public and they're careful to not let him be seen at night. The fact that they obviously hide him at night seems to be dementia related. Sundowning is an issue people with dementia have that causes them to be more easily confused at night.

This is very unfortunate. Reagan had similar issues at the end of his presidency, but he benefitted from a generation that had less real time communications and technology. It was much easier for them to hide his issues. Biden has been largely on full display and he's very obviously dropped a beat. He continues to say he plans to run for reelection, but I can't see how he has the mental faculties to handle another campaign, let alone get through another term.

Biden and trump are way too old. I think 40s and 50s would be the best age range.

That’s a nice way of saying he’s been caught one too many times trying to wipe his butt with his elbow.

I agree that I would like a younger person. I don't mind someone in their 60s, but that would be as old as I would prefer.

We need maximum ages for politicians — that includes the president, congress and the SCOTUS.

We need age limits and term limits. Especially the latter.

I can think of a few 90 year olds who would be fine. It depends on the person and their current condition.

That's true, but the risk is that things can deteriorate rapidly at that age. High level office can be demanding physically and mentally and includes lots of stress from many angles. I agree with other posters that 40's and 50's is good, 60's should be the max. Once people are in their 70's they should be chilling out or doing something that is low stress, my opinion of course, risky to go off outliers.

I dunno, seems to me like the sort if thing that should be left to the voters.

That's a good idea, and I know most Americans believe that is how it is. Just as you know a 90 year old who is an outlier of health and fit to be President, I know a 30 year old who is also wise beyond his years. Why should it not be left up to me and other voters to decide if the 30 year old should be President? ( - side note: it really is up to the Democratic and Republican parties who we can vote for that will feasibly be President)

This only points out the fact that there are age limits, or rules, and it is possible to change or modify them if it is deemed fit thus the discussion here. Should there be a lower AND upper age limit?

I like the lower age limit. Keeps my fellow 20somethings out of office.

Moot discussion as three quarters of the states couldn't agree on the sky being blue, let alone abolishing the age limit for running for President.

I do as well, but my hesitancy is that at that age you can quickly go downhill through natural progression or through a medical issue like a stroke. It adds a lot of risk and uncertainty that the office would either be vacated through death/serious medical emergency or the individual will decline significantly and not step down.

If we are to attempt to evaluate President Joseph Biden's fitness for the presidency of the United States of America, we should at least attempt it rationally.

The first step is to list those functions of the office that have real import for the nation. Stumbling up stairs does not qualify. Being capable of evaluating a situation and, with or without the input of others, acting rationally to address it certainly does qualify.

    I'll not belabor the point.

Regards, stay safe 'n well 'n remember the Big 5.

A trip to the middle east is just one big show and tell for the audience. The only weight being put into it is what is being showed, and how long are people (allowed) to tell about it. If the president doesn't even stay the night, but he does stay 2 nights in an other country, can flat out be interpreted in what is important and what is not. All the businessdeals done and handshakes made, have been cemented months ago.

Sure. It's a thing for an old person to do. But Biden can just think about his happy place. It's up to his staff to lead him around and give a slight heads up that this is the moment he signs such and so that have already been discussed over and over and over.

And Biden has been doing this for so long. It's like asking a 90 year old carpenter if he can still hit a nail in a piece of wood.
Odds are a hammer is going to fly at your face while hearing the "I've been hitting nails before you got born".

Biden is pushing the limits of age?

The USA is starting to look like the Soviet Union in its last days. At the end they too had a bunch of old men running things.

Shall we cut to Swan Lake?

Age limits are discriminatory. Restricting access to the presidency should be based on lack of ability, not age.

He is not running for 2nd term, and it lucky to be able to finish this term. Reagan was same age towards the end of his 2nd term, and it was showing in the last years, and sure enough, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease only few years later.

He is young, but unfortunately he is interested only in bickering about culture wars, and ignores real issues.
