Attempting to understand Islam

Questions need to be complete sentences to make any sense.

My knowledge is just fine. You able to complete your sentence, or have a relevant point to make? Yeah, I didnt think so.

 

I am not a Muslim but I am a Christian who has looked into some of the Islamic traditions enough to know that we non Muslims are rather ignorant about the positive aspects of what Muslims believe.

We Christians recognize King David of Israel as a hero…… He feigned madness and theatrically foamed at the mouth in order to be underestimated by the leadership of the Philistines……. living within a nation that you consider to be an "enemy" people on many levels can force one to resort to drastic measures in order to fit in or even survive.

I am afraid that you don't understand it at all.. Muslim can lie to save his own life or that of another Muslim... and they should tell little white lies to keep the peace and avoid hurt feelings in social or family situations.

You made up your mind about Islam and Muslims before you learned anything about either.. so you are simply seeking to justify your fear, hatred and ignorance.

Remember that Abraham lied twice about Sarah being his wife because he thought Pharaoh would kill him.

In practice.. its more about don't bear false witness and don't carry tales or gossip just to start trouble or sully the reputation of another person. Cruel teasing also falls under these rules of behavior. The underlying theme is their desire for a peaceful, civil society. I think they feel more strongly about such things than we do in the US. We think nothing of idle speculation or outright lies concerning other people.

Muslims are descended from Abraham.. Abraham lied to protect his own life... Its not complicated.

Plus……. we Christians did have a rather nasty habit of using ethnic cleansing whenever it suited our purposes…….. Muslims did know that they had to be careful to not tell us everything………..

 

Abraham didn't give squat about others' lives as long as he got his.

A good tree can be known by its fruit.
One of the commandments is thou shalt not lie.

But the Muslims also praise Jesus and call him a great prophet.
But then they do none of the things he said.

Muslims never paid heed to what "Love thy enemies."

Muslims deny the crucifixion of Jesus.

They seem to ignore that Christ said he was the personification of Truth, though.
That one thing means his father would be Reality, which is the image of Truth and its father as it unfolds.

God does then have a son.
Islam is wrong then.

 

The Koran has many legends and stories about Elijah.

 

Actually.. there are a couple of things: They believe that Jesus was without sin.. the purest of the prophets.

They do not believe in original sin.

They do not believe in blood sacrifice or that innocent blood ameliorates sin.

They believe that every man is directly responsible to God.

They believe that God does not eat, neither is he fed.

 

If you look at the details Abraham just did a lot of whining and he never offered to give up or do anything himself to save Sodom. It didn't cost him a grain of sand.
