    That was interesting, I looked it up and researched it.
    Apparently they melt the recycled plastic into the tar and it adds desirable properties into the tar, like flexibility and increased strength.
    The only thing I'd be concerned about is what it leaves behind in the environment, though I didn't seem to be able to find any good studies on that.
    The lifetime of an asphalt road isn't very long, typically 30 years. Old asphalt roads are oftentimes recycled into new roads, but not always.

    At the moment we are choking our oceans with plastic litter and there is no country willing to deal with our waste, If we could find a use such as paving roads we would have a win/win

    Right now the big problem preventing more widespread recycling of plastic is that there are several different types of consumer plastics made out of different chemical polymers, and it's not practical to recycle them together. If all the plastic put in the recycling bin were made out of the same type of chemical polymer, it would be much easier.

    Not sure about the paving idea but catching the plastic in nets to recycle is a great idea as most simple ideas generally are.
