I don't have postal service at my house. I have to go to the Post Office to get my mail. Is that a breach of the Constitution, or could the USPS reduce is services similarly across the nation to meet their budget limitations?

Oh, that will go over well. Mail delivery is what everyone _loves_ about the post office. Thanks for handing Democrats an easy win.

I'll assume your avoidance of the question indicates that you believe: yes, the USPS could reduce some of its services without breaching the Constitution. Feel free to correct me...

The reason they aren't solvent is that congress regularly raids its revenues for more to spend. Congress isn't competent to figure out how much to steal so they steal more than they should. They do the same thing to you.

There is FAR LESS regular mail now that there has been in many years. Most people either pay their bills with direct deduction or via online or smart phone.

I voted 'yes' on the bailout because as much as I dislike the idea of ANY bailout, we do still need the post office, as is, even with all its inefficiencies.

It still amazes me that it can cost so very much more to send a package weighing two pounds to Germany than it does to send an almost identical package from Germany to the United States. More than TWICE as much! What the hell happened? It didn't used to be that way thirty years ago....

Some people still get snail mail and those sales papers in their mailbox. Then, again, I know two people that still write checks.

Let's say they don't get the bailout? What are the options then? Maybe people can opt out of snail mail completely and those without email can pick up their mail at the post office. The PO Boxes could bring in some much needed revenue.

Their budget shortfall is caused by congress which appropriates some its revenue to spend on other things. Pass a law allowing the postal service to keep and use all of its revenue.
