When you say “Californis pays . . .” what you really mean is Hollywood, Silicon Valley and San Francisco pays . . .” Without those money pots, we’d likely be net takers as we have huge portions of welfar cases and children living in poverty.

 

That is a falsehood. California does not may more into federal coffers than it receives, much less "far more." (1) Please, don't spread misinformation on this board.

CA received $.78 on the dollar just 10 years ago, but now it's more like $.99, which still makes it a donor state when you consider that the average in federal dollars is $1.22 for each $1 paid in. It isn't as high as I claimed, though, so my apologies.

 

That's May 2020. Less than a year. Prior to that, CA was a donor state. And it now breaks even, still better than MS.
