The advice you were given is good advice especially if there is only one intruder in your home. I think that it's wise to assume that if you discover one intruder / home invader, there's at least one other somewhere in your home.

I've had about 3 instances in which deploying a firearm saved me from individuals whose intent was not to make me any healthier, happier or wealthier. In each case there was more than one so I think you should assume the same until you know otherwise.

It might sound silly now, but I think that you should already include other family / residents in planning what to do in case of a home invasion just as you would have some sort of escape plan in case of fire.

Finally, not all home invasions happen at night and no one should be in your home unless they either live there or have your permission. My home, on the other hand, is like Grand Central Station in that friends, family and construction workers come and go day and night because we're building an addition to the house for my wife's mother but I still have a good idea who belongs here and who doesn't.

You're right in that there are many more serious considerations to home defense other than just going out and buying a gun.

Ever notice that Democrats resent self sufficiency? They are absolutely disgusted that an individual should be able to defend themselves without the aid of the government.

You have your plan, good luck with that.

No, I have not noticed. I am not a Dem, but whatever you say. I know Dems who are willing and prepared to defend themselves, so I'm not sure where your disconnect is. Personally believe in defending my own home.

And I wish you success in your pajama-ninja-suicide attack approach.

Were you naked and alone when you trained house-clearing?

There's that animosity for self reliance that is so prevalent among your people, again.

Re hiding weapons in your home, recent stats here in Texas show firearm thefts are way up, especially from cars and trucks; with the restrictions on carrying now gone,a lot of newbie owners aren't taking care to secure their new toys. Hiding weapons is a good thing, well, unless you have Alzheimer's, in which case it's a bad idea.

Sure, whatever. Same to you (whatever your comment was supposed to mean).

~ No. I was also warned to never go outside with my pistola. My attorney told me the same — along with a few legal details.
~ People here who live on ranches, equestrian property and at the foothills often do the same — for obvious reasons.

If you do, make sure you drag the body inside before you call the cops, so you can claim home invasion

~ Apparently even in crazy liberal California once someone uninvited enters your home and does not leave when told you actually have a right to protect yourself. Hard to believe ...?

True, but a handgun in a holster is still always with you, meaning that you don't have to have a gun in every room in case you are in the wrong room when the bad guys bust in.

~ You may be correct. I remember a few years ago an old guy here in CA blasted a few home intruders who " got the wrong house" by mistake. No charges were ever filed .

Roaches and broken windows. If nobody wants to break in, then nobody will.

Hi Herkdriver, welcome to the forum. Just FYI this particular forum is an offshoot forum/thread to discuss guns and hunting in general, and not for 2A or gun debate. Its for us gun owners to simply talk about and show our guns and discuss hunting. If you want to state things like you did above and/or engage in debate, please find the gun debate forum.
