I agree that education is a huge part of climate action. We need to change our culture and the way we live our lives to one that is zero carbon. Climate action shouldn't just come from just the top or just the bottom. It should come from both. We need laws to reduce carbon and individual action. These laws should require lifestyle changes from both the wealthy and working class alike.

Let me explain to you why I mostly ignored your answers in my reply. Correcting power and transportation mostly solves the CO2 problem. When you start talking about bike paths and public transportation, you are piddling with tiny things that don't solve the problem. Bike paths and the thousands of other things that are in the hearts of climate activists are about lifestyle, totally unrelated to CO2. So ultimately, I don't care about bike paths, starting a civilian climate corps, charging stations for electric vehicles, "clean energy" block grants, or all of the billions of dollars worth of nonsense that don't actually reduce CO2. You guys tell me your serious about the climate, then present the most unserious, idiotic plans that don't address the issue you pretend that your serious about.

The issue boils down to two things: Power generation and transportation. Everything else is distracting nonsense.

How does a tax reduce co2, exactly? Dems think every issue can be fixed with a tax.

You can't separate those things from their source. The problem is First World Middle Class Joe/Jane Citizen living day to day in footprints the size of a village. It's him (and her) who make the choices that keep all of those 'evils' afloat. From their constant movement and their underutilised housing, to their appetite for purchased goods and services.

No, there should be no 'requirement' at all. Those who are serious about saving the planet (rich or poor) can put their money where their mouths are and move into tents and bicycles. That's literally ALL that needs to happen to save the joint. None of that other sh!t would have to happen.

You have to remember that there are many millions of people who claim to be concerned about the planet .. and they're almost exclusively the SAME millions of people doing all the freaking damage. It's not third worlders, or even working and poverty class first worlders (who are too poor to indulge anything but immediate survival). An immediate cessation of their profligate lifestyles, would literally save the planet.

He doesn't own a private jet - he is now flying commercial. And he doesn't own a yacht. He also donates tens of millions of dollars to climate projects. Hey, I'm not a groupie of his, but I'll point out when 'facts' are incorrect.

Either way he's extraordinarily self-centered most famous people are and they consume way more than they should. Him lecturing anybody about the way they live their life is like getting a lecture about appropriate sexual behavior from Harvey Weinstein.

If you want to praise him and feed his ego that's your business I won't.

There's no praise coming from me...just not jumping on the band wagon with incorrect information.

Own, lease, rent, immaterial. The act of partaking in high-carbon activities while chastising the great unwashed about the evils of carbon makes all these elites a hypocrite. John Kerry FFS flying around the world on a G3 spewing 12-20x more carbon per passenger to accept awards for saving the planet. Thing is these people are so deluded by their own grandeur and rank arrogance, they honestly don't even see their own hypocrisy.

    Czar Kerry...

"The only choice for somebody like me... I'm not going to be put on the defensive."

How about you just practice what you preach, Czar!

You don't think it's carbon footprint is about 40 or 50 times a regular person's?

Probably not. They don’t use heating, nor air conditioning in LA. LED lights use a tiny amount of energy.

here in S. Florida, even smaller homes are expensive.

if they don't use AC in LA why are there so many AC repair companies there?

No. Florida is a less desirable place to live than California and property prices and house values are soaring there.

The facts don't help him. Anyone who claims to care should have long sinced given up every possible contributor to environmental destruction, and he hasn't. If he talks about 'urgency' like so many others do, that makes him even worse. It can't be too ****ing urgent if he's still rattling around an enormous empty house and flying.

It's not just their hypocrisy (if it was only that it would be a simple annoyance) .. it's the fact that the message they're sending is ****ing terrible. It reinforces the idea that climate worriers don't need to change their behaviour ... because bike paths will save the planet.

As a climate worrier myself, that p!sses me off no end. I actually have more faith in climate deniers living 'small' lives, to save us.

If you compare his footprint to that of a poor resident of Calcutta, it's going to be more like 400 x.

Surely you don't believe that mega-rich celebrities aren't making their vast empty homes as comfortable as possible, no matter where they live? The chances any of them are genuine enough (about their climate activism) to refuse all heating and cooling, are about a one in a million.

You don't understand how selfish human nature is. People are really bad at making huge personal sacrifices for the common good. People have, are, and will always be selfish and we need to real about that. Thats why governments exist. If we could fund military, police, schools, and roads with voluntary choices by people we could get rid of the government.

But those people are NOT climate warriors.

This thread is about people who claim to want climate action - and those people have zero excuses.
