Package with a name that sounds like an organization that promotes fairness, this group is nothing but an ALT Right, highly funded, Democratic smear institution. The group was founded by Richard Mellon Scaife, a former billionaire, who spent hundreds of millions of dollars for Conservative causes. Can't say that Scaife didn't have a sense of humor. During his 2nd divorce, Mr. Scaife reportedly planted a sign on his lawn that said, “Wife and dog missing — reward for dog.”

It is now headed by their President, Tom Fitton, another ultra-conservative. They often use Breitbart as their media outlet, who will oblige and publish everything, as if it were gospel. Just one more heavily financed group of Republican Oligarchs. One big happy family. This link is rather old, but it is a good expose of this biased organization.

The local press normally softballs any reference to Judicial Watch, characterizing it in print as a "conservative think tank" or a "watchdog group." It is more than conservative. In fact, Judicial Watch specializes in far-right-wing advocacy, and though the group is designated by the Internal Revenue Service as non-partisan and tax-exempt, it pursues a relentless wing-nut agenda...

They were instrumental players in the Benghazi misinformation, the ACORN bankruptcy, and other relentless attacks on Democrats.

You hear the same reports about the Southern Poverty Law Center just for the opposite team. Appears if the critics are correct about the 2 organizations that there is balance in the judgement of laws and organizations in the land.

Not even close. The SPLC was founded to provide legal advice and assistance against the KKK. They don't file frivolous defamation lawsuits, with the sole intent of damaging reputations.

And the ACORN bankruptcy. Here's the scenario as it played out with ACORN:

    1. Use deep pockets of Oligarchs to create a frivolous lawsuit through Judicial Watch.
    2. ALT Right media starts picking up the story, playing it over and over.
    3. ALT Right media starts criticizing Main Stream media for not covering the story.
    4. MSM starts covering the story.
    5. Using deep pockets of Oligarchs, Breitbart sends out play actors who get footage to further damage ACORN.
    6. ACORN's reputation is ruined, and supporters start fleeing.
    7. California woman in ACORN office, cleverly exposes Breitbart scheme. ACORN wasn't guilty of anything, other than to attempt to work with the poor for housing.
    8. The damage is done, and ACORN must declare bankruptcy.
    9. Republican Oligarchs win another battle.

That's what happened...You forgot to mention the fact that ACORN was exonerated...after the fact...when no one cared any more and ACORN was already gone

Which puzzles me, since if they have a problem with crooked serial liars they'd have to have a problem with our current president too. Perhaps they are just good at not seeing what they don't want to see, like all the Trump voters who attacked Hillary for being crooked and dishonest and then voted for him.

Last I looked at their website....which was yesterday.....they are dealing with WAY more than KKK groups. While they may not bring lawsuits they are definitely in the business of singling out groups they feel are "bad", and according to some reports they can be a little slanted in who they shine the light on and who they do not.

Now at this point someone will argue that those reports are biased, propaganda, or something, but in today's society where peoples feelings seem to matter as much or more than facts or logic they must apply and be held as credible.

That's why Judicial Watch was founded. It was one of the nexus' of the right wing "get Clinton" smear campaign, which went on, more or less, for 25 years straight.

Scaife was the bank for JW for years until his death.

Now they're botting FB trying to pass themselves off as a champion of fairness and liberty.

All they are is a right wing pressure group that manufactures spin pieces and files nuisance suits.

This is essentially exactly what happened.

The entire ACORN thing was a manufactured controversy that was designed to promote the false notion that voter fraud was widespread.

This was part of the right's reaction to the selection of George W Bush. Since that election challenged people's faith in elections, the GOP was looking for a way to deflect responsibility and exploit it for their own purposes.

One of the reasons that things went the way they did in Florida was because the GOP ran a massive voter "caging" operation, that disenfranchised thousands of legitimate voters without their knowledge.

They went on to try this tactic in Ohio (twice), Michigan, Missouri, and several other states.

In fact, at the time the ACORN noise was at its peak, Karl Rove and Alberto Gonzales were working on installing political operatives in US attorney's offices in key states for the purpose of running caging operations, and filing the sort of nuisence suits that Judicial Watch is justifiably famous for. These actions themselves seldom change things, are are routinely dismissed, but they serve to provide noise and smoke for the rigth wing media machine to shout about voter fraud, which they do now, like clockwork, before every election.

What are we to "beware" of? Noticed nobody had any specific accusation against Judicial Watch other than the fact that they are "right wing" in the authors view.

Even with 1000 lawyers I think you would never be able to prove that Hillary WASNT a crooked serial liar.

Judicial Watch has NEVER been able to prove Hillary's guilt and in this country you are innocent until proven guilty. Rumors are NOT enough.

????? Actually their primary activity is securing the release of government records and making them available to the public.

No, their primary activity is manufacturing right wing spin pieces. They also supply talking heads for right wing television. And they file nuisance suits. They are very strategic about their attempts to obtain government records, and very selective and partisan about how they use what they obtain.

Like most LW projections, it's a false equivalency. Judicial watch is partisan-biased with no underlying dog in the fight... you don't get rich suing the government. SPLC is outright moonbat bizarre, has always been a jury-poisoning front for greedy plaintiff's lawyers looking to hit lotteries by suing "hate groups" and finding pools of easy to get money that can be falsely portrayed as related to "hate groups." Don't take my word for it readers, judge for yourselves. Here are their websites:

    http://www.judicialwatch.org/?sourc...icial-31268_google&utm_content=Judicial-31268

    https://www.splcenter.org/

There are maybe 10-15,000 members of bona fide "hate groups" in the US today. There are 40-70 million people directly dependent on government NOT including welfare, SS and medicare recipients. Do the math as to where the greater danger and corruption lie.

To the actual topic. I support Judicial Watch as a -necessary- government watchdog in the near total absence of effective internal oversight. The CONSTANT illicit growth and overreach of the federal government demands several such organizations, no wonder the ire of the gov-edu-union-contractor-grantee-trial lawyer-MSM Complex is always upon them. Godspeed Judicial Watch!

Has anyone else noticed that some of the most despicable organizations in the country use the word "Patriot" (or a variation) in their name.
As in, "White Christian Patriots for Traditional Values."
    I dunno. :blankstare:

Your Judicial Watch support is actually playing right into the hands of the wealthy Oligarchs. Their lawsuits and public outcries are all in the interest of their wealthy Corporate clients.

So this corruption that you cite - does this include VA Benefits? 30% of the benefactors are of this category. Most of the remaining are Food Stamp recipients. Has it occurred to you that these same wealthy Oligarchs actually want inflated Food Stamp numbers? Consider that an individual is eligible for Food Stamps, it he/she makes below $21-23K per year, depending on the State. Minimum wage, multiplied out, is about $14K per year. There's your income gap. This is exactly the scenario that the Oligarchs desire, so that they can then blame the "Entitlement Party", and capture more votes. Working people are always enraged, and immediately side with the Oligarchs, and become their voice!
