Sitting on I-95 in a traffic jam doesn't create the historical footage of him walking down the steps of an airplane. IIRC Trump flew his own plane to meet the Obamas after the election.

Hell, when Obama took office, he took a train from Chicago.
(I know it was just symbolic repeating President Lincoln's route)... I just think flying from Wilmington is a bit much for someone who wants to enter the Paris climate accord as priority.

It's not like he's POTUS yet flying on Marine One to Air Force One, no, he had to charter this flight from Wilmington to DC.

I guess I'd have granted him a police escort lol.
But yes, I know the jams of I-95 first hand.

As do I. I have spent far too many hours and come far too closer to a stroke trying to get through the Fort McHenry Tunnel than I care to recall (though I think it is easier now as they have recently gone to cashless tolling).

When I first went to America, to when I last departed America, I believe I've been stuck in a jams on that.

My first impression of America was I-95, and pot holes, now that I think about it.
I remember thinking 'wow' at all the pot holes I saw. It's random but is that it is.
Me noticing the pot holes on I-95.

Biden's choice not to use Amtrak were security driven (because he's so popular and didn't at all have any interference in the 2020 election). ;)

I just think it's a bit much to charter a plane from Wilmington to DC, especially when you're meant to care about the environment.

I'm still not sure if it's a 5 hour drive or a 2 hour drive though, not being a local or a native.

Potholes are worse the further north you go generally. I used to live about a quarter mile from the DC beltway. Getting to it was the biggest problem. Once on it, it was usually okay as long as it wasn't raining. For me, there are 2 distinct I-95 ideations. Anywhere south of Richmond VA is great. Everywhere around Richmond VA and north is one step deeper into hell with each 5 miles you drive on it.

From PHL (Philadelphia Intl' Airport) to the Penna Turnpike (Pennsylvania Turnpike) north enough for ya? J/k, but I guess your post explains my experiences.
I honestly thought it was like that from MA to FL to be honest, but, IDK.

The further north you go on the US east coast, the wetter and colder winters become. Water + expansion/contraction+ all the crap they put down on snow and ice are a bad combination for asphalt to hold up. The high volume traffic also makes it harder to repair them. When I lived around DC, you only saw them out working on the beltway in the middle of the night to keep workers from becoming road kill, not that they were always successful in that. Richmond just happens to be where you start seeing more regular whacky weather from the gulf stream coming up northeast from Mexico colliding with the north/northwest moving Atlantic ocean weather. Anyway, I don't think I have ever driven with one of my tires not in a pothole around Philadelphia. That city is just ugh. It is a beautiful train ride though once you get north of Philly into Jersey. Despite the stereotype, there is some real picturesque landscapes through New Jersey and north of there.

Do you not see the possibility that SECURITY could have been a concern (assuming that election-result denying, diehard Trump supporters are not in possession of anti-aircraft artillery)? Would you have him go by tank, instead?

Here is a chance for you to broaden, i.e., correct, your apparently mistaken notion about the Paris Climate Accord: it requires no one to revert to pre-industrial practices.

Kind of foolish because it will take him more than a half hour to get from his home to the airport, and then another half hour to get from the airport to the Capital Bldg. He's not saving much time. Maybe he feels it's safer.

Can you imagine the security needed along that drive?
Do you know how many nutters are out there trying to kill politicians? Especially those that kick the sheet out of tRUMP in an election.

Trump wants to hold on to Presidential luxuries as long as he can and that includes that Air Force One and he wants to fly to Florida. I wonder if he'll take Steve Bannon on the flight.

I know we're all cut up about this disaster of a situation, but can we please have like... substantive criticism of Biden? If we give him the benefit of the doubt on his golf schedule and choice of transportation it makes our criticism of him on important issues seem more pressing.

IIRC it make Democrats look petty to be nitpicking every single thing Trump did. Why make the same mistake?

Who honestly cares if he charters a plane or not? Did anybody vote or not vote for him on the basis of plane vs car?

He would have gone by amtrak, like he always did.
But that's not possible due the Donald's nazi's pose a too big of a threat.

LOL... who would even recognize the guy? To most, he's just an old guy wearing a mask. Window tint? He's invisible...

It seems appropriate that the do what I say crowd aren't willing to call him out for his private aviation usage.

Yeah, and Trump takes a couple helicopters from the WH to Andrews.
    A 10 minute drive.
If this is your biggest worry you should be grateful.

Trump supporters tried to drive him off the road before. And they've gotten far move violent recently.
And he would have gone by Amtrak, like he always did before, but it's simply far too dangerous.

His freaking inauguration is in a militarized zone because of them fascist Trump supporters.
Dunno how you missed this all to incorrectly criticize Biden, for what Trump supporters are causing.
But I guess Trump supporters must nag now, since they can't do violent things without being shot first.

Baseless accusations. And aren't you the folks who believe in "get in your face"? LOL.. Pick a lane. His inauguration is a disgrace. That the people aren't willing to support him explains why there must be a military presence to protect his state from the people... Biden just brought a little more China to the nation.

Dude... it's well known that Biden even cancelled his event in Austin because them fascists from Donald tried to ran him off the road.
Time to end that alternative reality.

Fascists are all over the place, hence the crowed at the moment can't be trusted, hence nobody is welcome at the inauguration.

The disgrace falls on Donald and his fascists supporters that there is no free to attent inauguration.
Donald is even to scared to attent the inauguration. Says it all.

I think you have your "facts" mixed up, since it was the Camel Toe who was so welcome in TX. but sure. you tried. And when did the left stop "being in their face"? again?
