History will show this period as one where chaos controlled the democratic party- and they lost focus and objectivity. Harris has been widely recognized and even more incompetent than Joe, and as having no grasp of the duties of office, including those she held before. Not a person with a record of accomplishment. Any candidate of any party should be able to bring a track record of accomplishments and effective performance to the table- but Harris has zip. Being female and mixed race- mother from India, father from Jamica and himself possibly of mixed heritage, the political appeal of diversity creates some political advantage that has nothing to do with competence. We are just now learning how foolish it is to use that concept when selecting people for critical positions.

The nation needs leadership with a high level of savvy, a quick mind, the courage and strength to face all kinds of challenges, the confidence to know their course and stick to it. Harris has none of that. The fact Biden endorses her by itself is actually a negative rather than a positive, it says he thinks she will continue what he has created. The fact that major dem figures have told him not to endorse Harris shows that within the party, the view of Harris is not one of confidence or respect. So, while it appears that they are likely to go with her as the candidate, I think a logical person has to ask WHY.

I think the answer is that they have no one else. There are competent people of course, but to have a shot a new candidate would have to have more- Name recognition, positive public image, the appearance of experience, and backing. The DNC can provide the backing with funds already on hand or pledged. The "anyone but Trump" mindset some have would provide backing for Scooby-doo if needed. Harris name is familiar, though hardly respected. I think they have an empty stable, and this is the only shot they think has a chance in the time window available.

The convention process is going to be interesting.
