Exactly. Trump defenders talk of a travel ban. It wasn't a ban. It was a restriction with a page-long list of exceptions, and it stupidly didn't attached a mandatory quarantine provision to those still allowed in.

Travel ban is what Uruguay did. They cancelled all flights and closed down the borders (air, sea, and land), period. No exceptions, other than medical evacuations of their own citizens. Not even diplomatic passports. The few still allowed in, had mandatory, 21-day supervised quarantines.

Result:

Uruguay has had so far 246 deaths per million of the population. The United States, 1,684. Initially they did even better; now a bit less due to being unfortunate enough to share long land borders with out-of-control Brazil, and given the fact that before the pandemic thousands crossed back and forth to shop or work, so it's hard to keep the border 100% tight.

Or even a better example, New Zealand. 5 deaths per million of the population. Sure, of course, New Zealand is helped by the fact that its an island. But my point is, they didn't allow almost anybody in, and those brought in had to quarantine. That's how it's done; not merely a restriction more porous than Swiss cheese.

And this is not Monday morning quarterbacking. I told my wife at the time "this restriction won't work. Too many exceptions."

No, he revamped the rules for what was necessary to get rid of poor preforming Fed Employees. The process became far less arduous and now does not take years to get rid of someone.

 

No Democrat was calling for more, and I HIGHLY doubt that you think that a Democrat would have done anything more, considering your non-partisan nature.

 

I never said the Dems would have done more. But that is totally irrelevant. Trump was the man, it was his to either succeed or fail, and he failed in a most spectacular fashion.

Hell even GW had the balls to take responsibility, but not Trump nor his worshipers.

One would think that Trump was turning the water into wine as he was walking on it.

 

You opened a thread to complain about lack of press conferences, and now that they held one you want to talk about anything but that, or the fact that Trump held only one in a whole year.

Actually I find most experts to be pretty good. When I needed surgery on my elbow I went to an expert in such surgeries and now I am golfing pain free again.

When my car needs fixed I take it to an expert.

 

Basically that there is no reason for it to be under Govt control. If there is no reason for it, then it should not be so
