The move would signal a major pivot for the Biden administration, which up until recently was taking a restrained stance on Ukraine, out of fear of provoking Russia into invading. But as President Vladimir V. Putin has ramped up his threatening actions toward Ukraine, and talks between American and Russian officials have failed to discourage him, the administration is now moving away from its do-not-provoke strategy.

The deployment of US troops in Ukraine would be the ultimate insurance policy to prevent an invasion.

And Putin is realizing that he has before him a POTUS who is much less accommodating to his autocrat ambitions than the one who was there before.

That is why NATO must be protected and strengthened at all costs.

Show weakness in front of Putin and you will have all the Eastern countries falling one after the other.

I read yesterday that Russians are starting naval exercises off the coast of Ireland. They are probably watching what crosses the ocean and spying on the UK. As far as I understand, they also set up field hospitals. Looks like a preparation for things going wrong.

 

This moron is going to get us into an all-out war with Russia.

You can't say that with any degree of certainty at this point. Russia IS massing troops close to Ukraine. That is a fact. One of three things is going to happen.

1: Russia goes "haha just kidding!" and pulls its troops back.
2: Russia invades Ukraine and no one does anything to stop it.
3: Russia invades Ukraine and the rest of the world gets involved. Including the US.

That is where we stand at this point in time. And NO ONE knows which direction this is going to go just yet. Especially not some armchair political expert nobody like you or me or anyone else on this forum. Even if Biden sends troops to Ukraine as a "deterrent" the above still stands. And the Biden Administration isn't even talking about sending troops to Ukraine, just "eastern Europe and the Baltics".

 

If the idiot puts troops on the ground in Ukraine and Russia attacks them he will either have to sit there and look like a sissy or he will have to do something about it.

Don't forget Biden already gave Russia the oil pipeline.

On top of this, NATO nations like Croatia and Germany have either said they will withdraw forces or negotiate with Russia directly.

So even if Putin does not invade, he's already got a new oil pipeline and a weakened NATO.

That said I believe he will invade as this would otherwise be a very costly show of force.

Putins done it before when America had a weak dem in office and he will do it again.

 

We have US boots on the ground in Ukraine and have for several years guy.

Spec ops for training and advising.

Biden never specified that sanctions would be the only means of retaliation against Putin.

If Putin is doing this, then NATO's containment strategy is working.

Russia is increasingly isolated economically, strategically and politically.

But maybe that doesn't make you happy, considering MAGA's sympathy for autocrats.

And it must be weird for you to see a POTUS who doesn't brag about getting love letters from a dictator.

Yep - and the fishermen in Ireland are going to do whatever they can to mess up those exercises by going out into that area en masse. They are extremely concerned about the cables that have been cut in Norway in the last few months and know that if the Russians are behind it and plan to do it off their coast, communications will be cut between Europe and North America. Brave, brave men!

Im pretty confident that these naval exercises are being quietly shadowed by at least one of our nuclear submarines. Cutting the cable is pointless, as there are hundreds of communication satellites in space, including Musk’s constellation of thousands of small satellites.
I think they are there just to spy and give an early warning if sh!t hits the fan.
