And this officer will probably be charged and from the video rightfully so. Knelling on his neck while he was restrained and cuffed, doing so for the extended period of time. No you should NEVER resist the arrest but once they had him down and cuffed this became abuse. I wish there was a video that showed exactly what they were doing if anything. Yes he had to be searched but doesn't take this long.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A black man has died in Minneapolis police custody after video shared online from a bystander showed a white officer kneeling on his neck during his arrest as he pleaded that he couldn’t breathe.

His death, which occurred Monday night after a struggle with police officers, was under investigation by the FBI and state agents. Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo, speaking to reporters Tuesday morning, was asked about the use of the knee on the man’s neck during the arrest.

“We clearly have policies in place regarding placing someone under control,” Arradondo said, stating that taking a look at what happened and how those policies apply “will be part of the full investigation we’ll do internally.”

Officers were called about 8 p.m. Monday to investigate a report of a forgery at a business, according to police spokesman John Elder. Police found the man, believed to be in his 40s, matching the suspect’s description in his car....

Saw this on yahoo news when reading my email this moring. A few key words standout right away, This is from the yahoo article btw. "The Minneapolis Police Department said in a press release that officers arrived at the scene in response to a reported “forgery in progress.” The suspect, police said, was in a car and appeared to be under the influence. He “physically resisted” officers, police said".

Here the thing, don't resist arrest ever. Even if it unlawful. You document everything and get an attorney and file a lawsuit. BTW notice how the video starts AFTER the encounter.

 

I'm not taking the cop's side. Nobody should ever be "restrained" with so much force it causes death. But still, it wouldn't hurt black people to follow the above advice.

 

Once the guy was in handcuffs there was no need to restrain him like that.
