OK, now you pissed me off. Liberals today are nothing like what you want to call liberals of the past. The various labels right wingers attribute to historical figures and movements serve only one purpose, a lame attempt to paint with such a broad brush that Jackson Pollack would not recognize the pattern without ten hits of acid. I got news for you pal, racism and prejudice was the American id long before someone thought of calling people by partisan labels. Everyone was a racist jerk, almost everyone was prejudiced and that is the real history of America. By claiming that it was a liberal mainstream concept that excluded what you might consider your ancestral conservative origins you reveal a profound lack of knowledge and an ignorance of history.

 

So, translation, you don't actually have a point, never intended to produce one, and are only willing now to espouse your truly engrained ideological purity. Gotcha. I'd simply point this out to you. You're wrong. Not "everyone was a racist jerk". In fact, it were those who weren't who spent time and energy unwinding those who were and the policy they produced to underpin your seriously myopic view of history. So, instead of actually worrying about how and why Jim Crowe got on the books, you'd rather complain that folks like you today are somehow more "enlightened". So, thanks for demonstrating your unwillingness to actually educate your self, and the almost playground lashing out technique of transference. Look deeply into that mirror. I know, it might be pretty scary. But give it a try, tarring others with your own inadequacies is never a good idea.
