    I was responding to the fact that the OP said the protest was because Target was calling the police on shoplifters. I was merely pointing out that there is a longer history at play between Target and the city. The more you know...

    Its funny you mention organized crime. Fun historical fact: one of the main things that gave rise to America's organized crime movement was the 'protection' racket. When a first party of people couldn't go to the cops (who were limited by the law) because certain a second party of people were threatening them (knowing they could easily operate outside of the law), a third party of people (the mafia) rose up to meet that demand for protection. The mafia stepped in and got all the street guys in line and then charged people and businesses to maintain that order - this is where the organized part of 'organized crime' essentially came from.

    So if the leftist mob comes looking to attack, and people cant go to the cops because the cops will either be bound or simply not even funded, then its reasonable to assume we might see a resurgence of some sort of organized third party bent on exploiting the situation.

    That's not how riots work.

    Lynchings aren't popular anymore because the federal government doesn't look too keenly on states letting lynches happen.

    If you are shot over a bag of chips it is because you were hostile towards the police, meaning you are likely violent, meaning you will likely harm or kill others anyway. So that person getting shot over a bag of chips is better for society as a whole.

    Are you saying we should just let people steal with abandon? Legalize theft? And can you show me an example of someone who was shot solely because they were shoplifting? What happens when you call the police is they arrest the person, if the person resists then what happens after that is not what happens when you call the police but what happens when someone resist arrest.
