From what I seen KAP took most of its vote from ALP and greens, It was a great showing on its first time out and outpolled the greens ( an established party) so there is hope that come federal election the greens and alp are going to be smashed just as hard as they were in QLD, the greens will go the way of the democrats....

The greens are the reincarnation of the democrats, feeding off the scraps that fall under the table, this type of novelty has a shelf life. The ALP got the boot in QLD for incompetance and dishonesty, the same formula used by Julia and her cast of clowns.

I believe Bob Katter is a good man, I believe he has the best interests of his electorate at heart, and that is as it should be. I also firmly believe that Bob Katter is about 50 years behind his time.

Now if Abbott were to by some miracle be elected, then Katter would become relevant, as the country would be 50 years behind.

Fifty years behind the times, in which way? If you were referring to his dress sense, you`d in that case, could quite possibly be leaning more toward charitablity than harsh criticism. However, bearing in mind the repetitive cycles of dress fashion, if Bob keeps wearing that 21 gallon hat, he may one day, find himself at the height fashion, although I personally, can`t visualise that event.

If you were referring to Bob`s "outdated" concern for the conservation, and the present and future wellbeing of this country, I would beg to differ. These sentiments should never date, and there are many who see these attributes as just as relevant now as they ever were.

No actually dress sense never entered into it, although the hat does leave something to be desired.

No I wasn't talking about his "outdated" concern for the conservation, and the present and future wellbeing of this country, just the contrary, that is what I praise the man for.

Unfortunately, like a lot of politicions, Australians in general, a lot of the media and a lot of bloggers here, concern, outdated ideas, returning to the "Good Ol Days", burying our heads in the sand etc will do no good.

We need forward thinkers, not 5 years ahead, not 10 or 20. We need people who think 50 - 100 years ahead.

We need "Snowy Mountain Scheme", across Australia freeways, railways thinkers. We need renewable, sustainable, conservational, save our asses before it's too late thinkers.

We need bold brazen people who will stand up for air, water, vegetation, wildlife for without them this is just a big cold lump of iron.

We need people that are not only willing, but able to think and move ... "Outside the Square"; innovative, daring, driven, passionate people with forethought and initiative.

Now I ask you honestly, is that Katter and his mob or Abbott and his crew, I think not....

DV, I agree with most of what you say. We need visionary leadership, people who can set this country up to compete in an ever changing global economy. We need to conserve the positive aspects of this country, while working together to address the negatives, and planning for the future. Avoid irreversible damage.

Abbott, Katter & co aren`t my cup of tea either, although they may well be the pick of the bunch. I believe that our political, governmental, legall, and beauracratic systems all urgently need revision, the systems are more at fault than the people.

All jokes aside, where do we find these Mythical creatures, the visionary or the
    forward thinker ?
