I never implied such. That you assume that is what I was implying is on you. I merely stated tunnels can, in fact, be dug under walls...nothing more, nothing less.

    That doesn’t even make sense.

    Okay.

You think the BP is unaware that people tunnel under the wall? The issue isn’t knowing that; the issue is finding the tunnel.

Last year, there were an estimated total of 8,000 to 10,000 people in all the caravans total. Most were asylum seekers. So the number of people from the caravans who might attempt to cross illegally was tiny compared to overall border crossings, no matter how you slice it.

As long as we are compensating Mexico for the cost, and giving the applicants a hearing in a timely manner, no problem.

Of course, asylum seekers — a tiny subset of all would-be immigrants — have always been pretty well-behaved. When released into the U.S., the vast majority show up for their court hearing. So Trump is punishing a historically well-behaved group as a proxy for ordinary illegal immigrants. But then, is anybody surprised?

WTF, why should we compensate Mexico for the cost, ROFL? If Mexico isn't happy with the expense then Mexico can deport them, or prevent them from entering Mexico in the first place.

Mexico contributed to the caravan problem in the first place by allowing them to traipse thru Mexico assuming they'd just pass thru and go to America. Mexico could have stopped the caravans in their tracks and put an end to the migrant nonsense with the first caravan.

Instead Trump had to strong arm Mexico a little bit, first by threatening tariffs, and then by making the migrants wait in Mexico ---- which were both good moves by Trump, and Mexico is cooperating. Let Mexico share in the burden since they allowed them in in the first place. We don't owe Mexico one cent of compensation.

What a spectacle: the richest country in the world forcing a poor country to deal with a problem we don’t want to pay for. And way to expect much-poorer Mexico to seal its borders, when the whole reason we’re having this discussion is because WE can’t seal our own borders.

Adult countries pay for their own problems, don’t force the poor neighbors to shoulder the burden.

But then I guess adult countries don’t elect lying demagogues like Trump.

ROFL! "WE can't seal our own borders" largely because of opposition from people like YOU....! It is laughable to see someone like you criticize the US for our problems with border security, when it's the same folks like you who are fighting Trump every step of the way as he tries to ----wait for it---- fix our border security and immigration problems.

But back to Mexico..... We aren't "forcing" them to do anything. If Mexico had kept these people from crossing their southern border in the first place, neither Mexico nor the US would be in this predicament. That is worth repeating so it sinks in: If Mexico had kept these people from crossing their southern border in the first place, neither Mexico nor the US would be in this predicament.

Hell, Mexico could fix their own southern border security, their southern border is certainly much shorter than ours. Or hey, they could help pay for our southern border wall, because without the lure of America, those people aren't going to caravan just to end up in Mexico, and the problem would be solved for both countries.

The only thing I would add is 5 years jail time for each illegal alien employee for the company owner or CEO of a corporation. No excuses, no exceptions.

If you can see them then you won't need a wall, will you, as you will be able to track them according to your post. Now once they mix with the local Mexican population yards away from the border how are you going to tell who they are! I give your post an F.

And as for tunnels, you do know that they are not observable in the open, don't you? I posted a video of a 760 foot tunnel, 70 feet under ground that you could walk through and rose up into a warehouse on the US side. Is it beyond your logic of reasoning to understand that more tunnels will be built when needed, a nice little money earner for the human traffickers. Perhaps you think these tunnels are fake news, do you think that?
And just for you, I'll repost this link, one of many that are available, which you'll no doubt ignore while sticking your fingers in your ears singing la,la,la :
As the border wall grows, smuggling tunnels proliferate
    https://www.hcn.org/issues/50.21/us...rder-wall-grows-smuggling-tunnels-proliferate
"But human smugglers sometimes use existing storm drains to ferry migrants across, too."

That's a stupid statement. When has any border wall anywhere stopped someone from coming/going legally?

Having lived along the border I can tell you the problem is not that we do not have enough BP, it is that a large percentage of them are being misused manning inland checkpoints.
The purpose of the inland checkpoints is to confiscate drugs, money, and vehicles. Asset forfeiture laws allow for law enforcement agencies to keep a large percentage of the proceeds of what they confiscate. The BP is not about border security as much as they are asset forfeiture of American Citizens.

If all the BP were stationed along the border, we would have sufficient coverage.

Thanks for admitting they don't belong here, while supporting candidates who want us to pay for housing, health care, and education for these people who don't belong here.

As for the rest of your nonsense, you're very aware, just like all leftists, that these walls will work.

That's why you fight against them.

If they didn't work, you wouldn't care.

I've always admitted they don't belong here. Not my fault you don't pay attention. And who are these candidates you think I support? This ought to be good...snicker...
I have consistently stated we need to jail anyone who hires illegals. As soon as people see that first person carted off to jail you'll see all those jobs for illegals dry up. No jobs, no reason to be here. A wall isn't going to get rid of those currently here. But my proposal will help get rid of those who are currently here as well as stop those from coming here.
How many leftists want illegals already here gone as well as stop new ones from coming here? Hahaha...maybe if your head wasn't buried up your backside you'd stop making asinine statements.

No, a wall doesn't get rid of those here.

What it does do is cut down on the number of people we have to deport 5+ times.

None of these want them gone.

If there were no jobs we wouldn't have to deport anyone because they would leave.

Oh and....I don't support any one of those candidates. So you are wrong AGAIN!

Not really true. Large portions of them come here to commit crimes.

That's what illegal immigration is: a pathway for criminals to enter the US.

    Sure you don't.

Could you provide factual data backing your claim that "Large portions of them come here to commit crimes." This would mean they don't come here for jobs, but solely to commit crimes.

    Seriously?

Who do you think is bringing in the 10's of millions of pounds of illegal drugs across the border? Who controls access to the southern border on the Mexican side? The drug cartels.

80-90% of illegal drugs that enter this country come across the southern border.

You mean the ones who predominately come through legal ports of entry???

You mean the drugs that are caught at points of entry because we have control of entry at those locations?

Explain how many drugs come across the border where there is no control.

The only place you can catch drug entry IS WHERE YOU HAVE PEOPLE AND BARRIERS CONTROLLING ACCESS.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection statistics, 90 percent of heroin seized along the border, 88 percent of cocaine, 87 percent of methamphetamine, and 80 percent of fentanyl in the first 11 months of the 2018 fiscal year was caught trying to be smuggled in at legal crossing points.

While those numbers deal only with drugs that are caught, border experts say the data accurately reflect the way drug cartels successfully smuggle narcotics into the country.
Gil Kerlikowske, who headed CBP and the Office of National Drug Control Policy under President Barack Obama, said intelligence received from arrested smugglers and law enforcement partners in Mexico indicate that cartels clearly prefer moving high-profit narcotics through the busy ports of entry because their chances of success are better there.

He used the example of the San Ysidro Port of Entry in southern California, the busiest port with 100,000 people crossing through each day. Port officials recently completed a multi-year, $750 million upgrade to add more Customs officers and inspection technology, but Kerlikowske said the sheer volume of traffic means smugglers' odds are still better going through there than other parts of the border.

"Regardless of the number of drug dogs and technology and intelligence, the potential of smuggling the drugs in through a port of entry is far greater. Your ability to be captured coming across between a port of entry is much greater," said Kerlikowske, now a professor of practice in criminology and criminal justice at Northeastern University. "It's very clear that (drugs) come through the ports."

    Duh.

I wonder why 90% of heroin seized is in locations where we have people at the border.

That's 90% OF WHAT IS SEIZED NOT WHAT COMES OVER THE BORDER.

Makes you wonder why we don't seize 90% of the heroin that crosses here, where we have no people and no barriers.
