He exposed HIGHLY classified material which put people in danger and threatened our national security. Throw the book at him if he conspired to engage in the espionage that occurred.

What are you claiming he did, exactly?

Does it involve anything other than sending a message to Manning telling him/her how to hack a password?

Not exactly a judicious veracity test of potential evidence, eh? "If it's weird it might be true; if it's weirder still it's probably true; if it's the weirdest thing ever it's absolutely true!"

Probably weird enough on the weird test to justify a FISA warrant.

    Sounds good?

That alone would be evidence of conspiracy, but according to the indictment it was more than that. Manning sent Assange part of the password to see if he could crack it. Assange tried but couldn't. That's good evidence of conspiracy.

The FISA judges approved, and they weren't Democrats. Trump's moronic attacks against the judiciary are unfounded and serve only to harm our country.

Manning wasn't convicted of transferring highly classified information?

It was all classified - much of the stuff that gets classified these days however has little to do with some threat to national security - or putting people in danger. One fellow said the other day that the CIA classified some speech that Hillary made when in the UK ... a public speech.

Just wondering if we knew what stuff put people in danger - stuff that Assange released.

Regardless -once it is out there - it is out there. You blame the guy that stole it - not the journalist that releases it. https://theintercept.com/2019/04/11...ssange-poses-grave-threats-to-press-freedoms/

Assisting means he sent a message telling him how the crime could be committed.

Oh well, I guess Murder Mystery writers all around the world are guilty too.

There are many things that puzzle me these days, and the latest one is the Assange affair. This man has had the guts to do something which none of us would dare to do, viz. give Joe Public the heads-up on the stupidity, incompetence, and corruption of fools who presume to govern us: it is entirely understandable that they should loathe him, but what I really, really don't get is that anyone other than those charlatans should also loathe him - in other words, to take the side of the vindictive culprits whilst they victimise and persecute our informant into an early grave? It's almost the ultimate definition of Shooting the messenger. Just imagine the self-righteous outrage from the US and it's puppy-dog the UK if this was happening in Russia or China? The sheer hypocrisy of it is breath-taking.

And the charge is Assange assisted and conspired with Manning to get it.

Do you mean that our "national security" depends upon government deception and crimes?

You probably dismissed it when it was said by Robert Gates right after Manning was arrested, but Gates noted that the material released by Manning harmed nobody.

That state of denial you live in gives you peace and quiet, but makes you look grossly uninformed, rather Misinformed.

That is what the media is trying to portray but that is not the charge. Read the link I gave you. In no way is Assange charged with assisting Manning in obtaining the information.

Here's the thing: the UK government won't allow even a convicted jihadist to be deported 'if his life will be in danger, or he will be tortured in the country of his deportation', but here we have an innocent man being deported via a complicit third party country to the US to who-knows-what awaits him (Guantanamo, probably), because he upset a few useless politicians by telling the truth about them. Wither 'Freedom of Expression' now??

So Assange has been arrested on a single charge of conspiring to steal military intelligence from the United States

Don't we have a lot of Chinese that we need to arrest and get them extradited here and thrown in prison?

Essentially Assange was able to look through the Cyber border and find what he wants I don't think he's a criminal I think the charges will be dropped

if it does go to trial it's going to be one of the most interesting trials in a long long time . It is definitely precedent-setting

Maybe we should focus on firewalls instead of physical barriers?

please don't give Donald Trump that idea of making a physical barrier out of fire

Oh and it suddenly transpires Assange has been 'spying' over the 7 years he was ensconced in the embassy. I wonder how much British taxpayer pounds were given to the new Ecudorian ambassador to parrot that load of crap? Quite a lot I'd guess.

As it happens I watched tv footage of him being abducted from the Embassy on BBC news last evening, and noted there were at least 7 repeat 7 plain-clothes Mr Plods all falling over each other to seemingly crush him down onto the steps. I trust they all got home that night feeling like they'd accomplished a job well done? Actually the scene reminded me of when the NYPD 'arrested' Earl Garner; 5 of them pounced on him like a pack of African hunting dogs. WTF has happened to our countries?

A US kangaroo court will fix him, have no doubt about that.
