If you choose to turn yourselves to living torches or commit hara kiri or hang yourselves like bats on the trees or starve yourselves to death or dive like Superman from the world's highest building, nobody not even Buddha can stop you. Buddha can only sigh and shake his head in disbelief and resignation to see his teachings abused and misinterpreted for personal motives and interests.

Please read the article headlined "China hits out at US committee's Tibet Bill" at http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp_asiapacific/print/1191773/1/.html

It is useless for China to condemn the Senate Foreign Relations Committee's Tibet Bill. Chinese lawmakers should emulate their US counterparts by passing bills on the US. For a start, they should pass a Native American bill calling on the US to ease restrictions in the so-called "domestic dependent nations" and provide unfettered access in the Indian reserves to Chinese journalists and diplomats.

The Chinese resolution should state that it mourns the Native Americans who have died defending their country from early European invaders, deplore "the repressive policies targeting Native Americans" and urge Washington to give genuine independence to the so-called "domestic dependent nations" by providing them with free access to UN memberships. It should also urge the Chinese Foreign Minister to seek a "full accounting" from the US on the plight of the "forgotten people" who have experienced a lot of discrimination and neglect.

Taking an analogy, a lot of misguided people in Village A have committed suicide by taking poison under the instigation of a former village chief who has fled to Village B. Instead of condemning the suicide, the chief of Village B encourages more suicides and calls on the present Chief of Village A to ease restrictions on the villagers so that they can have free access to the poison to commit more suicides. Such illogical acts of the chief of Village B contradict the values he has propagated and will only raise suspicion of his motives and character.
