You do not believe our transportation system is in crisis and that that is negative? Show me where it has had positive results.

And again the premise of your argument is that the Secretary of Transportation is not a vital function even in a transportation crisis. You really want to stand your ground on that point?

That's not even close to what being a parent means. The late actor Robin Williams took over parenting when actor Christopher Reeve and then his wife passed away. Was he not a "parent" to that kid that didn't *belong* to him or his wife?

I know grandparents, adult siblings with minor siblings, friends, etc. that have taken on the role of parenting children they didn't bring into the world. It is now October 2021 on planet Earth. Have you been off the planet for the last 50+ years? This isn't news.

No I want you to show me he’s a vital function by telling me something that he was needed for that didn’t happen. otherwise I’ll assume the dept kept humming along and he was available when needed, as your link said.

For all of the homosexual parent supporters here - I would like to hear of one example of two males of any species taking up the rearing of the offspring of some other similar creature?

Why do I have to show you he is in a vital position, are you denying his position is vital? Are you saying the Department of Transportation does not need a Secretary, a cabinet level position, in order to operate and carry out it's missions especially during a transportation crisis?

And again the premise of your argument is that the Secretary of Transportation is not a vital function even in a transportation crisis. You really want to stand your ground on that point?

Has the transportation crisis gotten better or worse while he was home taking care of his children?

He has nothing paid or otherwise and he WAS being paid. And you are making assumptions about Biden approving and I have already made the point Biden should have asked for his resignation if he was going to be MIA during a TRANSPORTATION CRISIS. Heck did Biden even know?

And his job is NOT to get parental leave legislation or for the country it is to keep the transportation system running, he should resign and ask to be the HHS Secretary if that is what he wants to do. But that being said what is doing is showing the folly of this one size fits all parental leave and employment policies.

"“Can Pete Buttigieg have it all?,” was the headline on a Politico story last week from Alex Thompson and Tina Sfondeles. They wrote that Mr. Buttigieg “has been MIA” and reported:

While U.S. ports faced anchor-to-anchor traffic and Congress nearly melted down over the president’s infrastructure bill in recent weeks, the usually omnipresent Transportation secretary was lying low.One of the White House’s go-to communicators didn’t appear on TV. He was absent on Capitol Hill during the negotiations over the bill he had been previously helping sell to different members of Congress. Conservative critics tried (unsuccessfully) to get #WheresPete to trend and Fox News ran a story on October 4 with the headline: “Buttigieg quiet on growing port congestion as shipping concerns build ahead of holidays.”They didn’t previously announce it, but Buttigieg’s office told West Wing Playbook that the secretary has actually been on paid leave since mid-August to spend time with his husband, Chasten, and their two newborn babies.

...As ridiculous as his claims and the media adoration of him may be, the transportation secretary is nonetheless helping to illuminate important truths. Every organization has its own needs, every employee is unique, and employers and workers interact in unique situations. Especially at small firms, many employees really are as essential as Mr. Buttigieg presents himself to be for his department. In some cases a business owner and an employee might agree that family leave is in order, but also agree that it’s reasonable for some key work to be performed during the leave.

Imposing iron mandates on the myriad employment arrangements among consenting adults in our vast economy will result in fewer such arrangements, as businesses and workers have less ability to strike deals that suit their particular needs and wants. And one thing this economy surely doesn’t need is another barrier to job creation. The dearth of hiring is a big reason for the supply shortages that Mr. Buttigieg claims to have been addressing.

Sometimes, the boss would be filling in for the underling.

Who is Buttigieg's boss? Must be him.

Usually the President would appoint the a Deputy as the acting. But what Biden should have done when Buttigieg announced he would not be doing his job but staying at home to take care of his new babies is ask for his resignation and replaced.

The left has this warped idea that Buttigieg being with his children is FAR more important than the Secretary of Transportation working 12 hours a day to get us through this crisis that is affecting THE ENTIRE COUNTRY. One even claiming he is not vital and makes no difference if he is doing his job or not.

I get it, you can’t show anything he failed to do because he’s on peace.

I get it you can't show anything he did to solve the problem when he was MOSTLY OFFLINE not doing his job.

He failed to get the ports operating at full capacity.
He failed to turn around the backups.
He failed to get the trucks running.
He failed to get California to back off it regulations which are hampering the system.
He failed to get unions to ramp up their efforts else get out of the way.
He failed to get the fuel prices down.
He failed to do what he is finally doing NOW.

And yet you say there was nothing for the Secretary of Transportation to do anyway so he could just go home and change diapers and fill bottles. Just amazing but not surprising.

I read one headline that said she embarrassed the Newsmax reporter when it was the other way around.

They still act as if Buttigeig works some civil service 9 to 5 clerking job. She had the audacity to compare it to her taking 12 weeks leave when she worked in the PRESS OFFICE!!.. ON well that's a vital role I guess if we are having a total press reporting crisis.

"Psaki said. "I took 12 weeks of maternity leave when I was the White House communications director and I'm grateful to former President Obama for that and for leadership at the time for that.""

Well you gotta admit the homo birthing person doesn't know a damn thing about his 'position' so it comes as no surprise it's a roaring cluster****. It may be even better if he stayed home and made-believe breast fed somebody else's newborn twins...that he adopted. Any dude that would do a photo shoot with their gay lover in a maternity ward.....I don't want them running ****.

He also failed to make it rain candy
He failed to turn Biden into a charismatic speaker
He failed to make trumps hair look natural

these are not serious arguments you’re making. None of those things are within the power of the job, nor would any small government conservative want them to be!

There are parents and there are guardians. Watching over a kid with no parents makes you a decent person, but not a parent.

I don't think those are the responsibility of the Secretary of Transportation. So tell what he DID do what DID he accomplish working at home MOSTLY OFFLINE during a transportation crisis.
