    Yellowstone is overdue.

If the Muslims don’t get us, the volcanoes will.

No one gets out of here alive.

You can argue that a big meteorite striking the Earth is "overdue".

Doesn't mean its something worth planning for.

As changing the path of even a large meteorite over time with enough warning is within our current technology an by so doing saving a large percent of all life on the planet to me it is worth planning for those tinny risks even in any hundred or so years period.

The media has been ignoring this because the warmers have been pushing nuclear power as green carbon free power

Good example of a cult member grasping at straws to defend carbon neutral nuclear power

Actually we are planning for just that.

I'm a bigger fan of nuclear power than most people but let's be honest. Strictly speaking "nuclear power" is NOT carbon neutral. Uranium has to be mined, processed, and eventually transported from a nuclear power plant to disposal once it is depleted. All of those stages require substantial amounts of carbon emissions.

I think we've reached a point where nuclear power is a reasonable risk but the waste just keeps piling up and I'm anti nuke until we can find a solution to this.

The Yucca Mountain facility was just fine for that.

Could be but it didn't happen and as of now nuclear waste is piling up worldwide with no clear plan what to do with it for many thousands of years

Yucca Mountain could still be opened. and its not like it has to stay there forever. Yucca Mountain was designed so that it could be reopened up to 300 years later if another method of dealing with nuclear waste emerges during that time. and I have faith that long before 300 years passes that technology will have improved to the point that nuclear waste can be launched into space safely and economically.

Guess I just don't have your faith and I think a mountain full of radioactive waste is a hell of a thing to leave for our descendants to deal with.

No doubt there are worse things they'll have to deal with. I don't consider radioactive wastes to be that big of a deal.

More and more people are agreeing with you for a multitude of reasons and even the so called green crowd is getting onboard. As per usual I'm in the minority. Story of my life lol
