If CA had taxpayer funded vouchers then poor parents could choose to send their kids to private, high quality spanish speaking schools instead of being forced to send their kids to one of the failing government-run schools that force them to learn English and simply lower the bar to pass kids through instead of actually educating them. But that will never happen because teachers unions and muh "Speak English or G-T-F-O of my country"

What possible reason could you have for NOT expecting inhabitants of your nation to speak the common language of your nation? It's the absolute bare minimum, surely.

Those who wilfully refuse to learn your language, do not have your best interests at heart .... obviously.

Yes, they do. A cohesive and peaceful society absolutely depends upon the majority being reasonably well disposed to each other.

That's one of those "come back to bite you" thoughts.

Someone correct me if I miss this, but hasn't Mexico wanted to get California back? It looks like their plan is working.

This is supposed to be a free country where every person can put their own self interest ahead of the supposed "greater good".

The US is far from a peaceful and cohesive society, and it's entirely because the majority is morally bankrupt, and our leaders in government are a direct reflection of that. The majority can never be depended on to be rational or moral because it has mob mentality.
