No I dont see a difference. You just sound greedy wanting 100% of something instead of settling for the surplus. Sounds like you would prefer they keep it?

If believing that people should enjoy the fruits of their own labor is "greedy" in your view, what do you think about those taking your money and using it to cause harm in exchange for political power?

Geez, what are you people all reading from the same script? For like the 5th time now... They get money from fedgov which via the treasury and at the direction of the not-so-federal reserve prints shittons of it.

...did you really not know that, or were you just hoping that other people dont know that?

Depends where the state got the money.

Then why are you complaining that they are giving some of those "fruits of their labor" back now that they have a surplus. I'm sure that even you know that things like roadways etc, have to be paid for. Right?

    They have $91B surplus. Booming.....

Why do all pseudo-cons think California prints their own money?

Does CA get the money form the federal government in this case? No. At least I haven't heard of a bill that was approved by Congress to allow states to write checks to citizens. Therefore, the poster I replied to was throwing B$ at the wall, but he is trying to weasle out of it by deflecting to: States CAN print money if it is really Fed money that is just given to them. This is a dishonest way of discussion.

States don't determine, or have input into the monetary policy. Yes, the process you defined is true, but you leave out that those states don't have any input into how much is minted. They get a set amount, so how does how they spent it equate to "printing money"

Pretty smart of Newsom to win over more votes. Instead of giving a Tax break to tax paying people, he is buying votes from Illegals and non-tax paying populace by gifting them money. Very smart ploy.

Newsom is not giving it "back".

I have been paying taxes to maintain infrastructure for many years. They were irresponsible, allowed our roads to crumble, and used our poor road conditions to justify imposing several additional taxes. We have a gas tax on top of a gas tax on top of taxes disguised as registration fees. They did build some new toll roads, known to locals as "Lexus lanes".

Our roads were so bad, Dominoes Pizza had an ad campaign called "Paving for pizza".

It will probably even decrease availability of goods because it will incentivize some not to work (produce).

Sure seems like he is. $91B surplus and $12B going back in refunds.

    Everyone does that.

LOL. They are giving tax breaks.

What would be the point of buying votes from people who don't have a vote.

    Think before you post.

The money is not being given back. It is being redistributed based on income. Those who paid in less get more and those who paid more get nothing.

    Lets do some math:

If you make 50K, $350 gives you 0.7% to the positive. If you factor in the inflation this causes, how much better/worse off is that worker?

BTW, Illegal aliens have family here that vote. Their mere presence counts for representation, and they do have offspring. There is a reason incentives are given for people to risk dying in an abandoned truck to get here. That reason has zero to do with concern for humanity.

It (and other tax breaks) is given back to citizens of California, but I'm glad you always find something to complain about.

You are dodging and this is not about me. This is not a tax break and the money is not being given back. I can understand an opinion even when I don't agree, but lets at least call things what they are:

A tax break leaves the tax payer with 100% of the difference.
Giving back means returning to from where it came.

Neither of these two things are happening here. This is a redistribution. Can you defend this action with an honest reply?

Did you see my above post on CA pension debt. Probably did, but ignored the issue. California has over 100 Billion in unfunded public sector pensions. Forbes says the unfunded pension debt is one Trillion dollars. There is an old saying that applies here. Don't [urinate] down my back and tell me it's raining.

I am not a trump supporter and he never had a voice in CA. Inflation spikes harm those the Dems claim to care about the most. Those working paycheck to paycheck and raising children. Newsom's own advisors admit it will have an effect on inflation. While you and I spend our money carefully, government spending is careless.

Please try to discuss the issue itself.

Fair enough, but jungle rules do not require government.

Do they harm the poor? Pre inflation people were making $7.50 an hour min wage, paying 1500 a month for 1 bedroom rent. Now, $15an hour paying $1700a month for 1 bed room. Seems like after inflation it's a win. Getting a second job, or a working spouse and they should be set.

Too much money in circulation is a bad thing. Whether or not taxes play a roll in keeping velocity at a reasonable healthy rate just depends on what else is or is not being done.

Can California print money? They already subsidize plenty of red states, no reason they can't give some of that to their own residents.

Ha! Just as easily predictable as stench after a fart -- we're a little more than four months before the next election and Democrats start shoveling out the welfare again! The 'vote' goldmine discovered by Frankie Roosevelt, and perfected by Lyndon Johnson and Barack Obama is back in action! :woot:

It doesn't matter. They are on the same political side. They both totally support each other's policies.
