    Trump has been holding them since he won in 2016...therefore they haven't been exclusively to support the party in the midterms. So what is the purpose of them?

    In Southhaven, MS, the rally's purpose is to ensure that Senator Cindy-Hyde Smith is elected and that Mike Espey is not.

    We make no apologies for that.

    Every president does it.

    But he's been holding them since right after his election...surely he wasn't holding them to support various right candidates back then...

    George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton politicked in all 50 states, President Obama in 47, but he never politicked in Mississippi.

    You can't get many votes for yourself or your party where they don't like your policies much.

    It’s his own version of the Howard Stern Show. He gets to be an entertainer/as well as a shock jock!

    The problem is that he acts the same way in the WH!!!

    Absolutely not. The difference is that Trump plainly calls them 'campaign rallies'. Not necessarily a bad thing - just throwing out the question...

    He also does it to drum up support for whatever legislation he wants passed.

    Its one of the best ways to get the message out because the president gets a ton of coverage for rallies.

    Its far more effective then running television ads.

    These aren't political campaign rallies but Trump rallies.

    No Trump at the rallies they would look like a Hillary campaign rally with a half full high school gym during 2016.

    #1. There is no stadium large enough in L.A. to hold a Trump rally.
    #2. The insurance companies would default after paying for the damages of Trump supporters cars that would be vandalized at a Trump rally.

    Wtf? Why does that matter at all? Why would it be a bad thing? Your question is nonsense and in direct contradiction of reality, the reality of course being that presidents routinely do this. It’s not a trump thing. And if your main beef with it is that “he plainly calls them” then shouldn’t that be a good thing since he’s being honest and open about it?

    .It's a great way for him to connect with his base.

    Honestly, more Dems should think about trying this sometime. Fire people up. Get em to translate that fervor to their family and friends.

    And considering that in today's politics, your always in campaign mode, this is simply the next evolution of that.
