Since we have the first Black president, it is relevant to ask how it's going?

Yes...globalization is a huge factor, and we've known this for decades, so what steps has Obama taken for US business to better serve the global marketplace?

For example, Obama's recent 28% corporate tax rate proposal and the elimination of tax loopholes; is this or is this not any form of gain for US business? What is the net gain/loss of tax revenues from industry by implementing his policy? If this nation and Obama truly cared about globalization, the net tax income from industry would have been identified as an opportunity to improve competition, and corporate tax revenues would have been cut in half...or whatever number assists US industry to create more jobs in the USA...

I don't personally but it. I believe our first Black president has challenges different than if he was White. I see in my own life the bigotry and xenophobia that exists and I'm positive this is the same in Congress and other power circles. It's not so overt, but there remains an underlying tension in this nation in race issues...

For the millions of Americans who will never be happy with anyone who is not White, 'they' are right from 'their' perspective. I don't believe they are right in regards to the advancement of mankind.

If you don't believe it's a big deal, then why did Obama start receiving death threats the moment he became a candidate?

Once again ... all you need to do is ask how many Presidents have been asked to show their Birth Certificates, Grades and asked if they are a Patriot.

    How many? :-(

I guess it would only be those who do not meet the definition of Natural Born Citizen.

Which is what it takes to be Constitutionally recognized as a legitimate President.

It proved that no matter what the race baiters see one of their own accomplish, they will never believe that they can do the same thing. Which refutes the need for any kind of additional race-based affirmative action type policies in the future. Because it's clear now that no amount will ever be enough to satisfy these people.

The establishment thought that putting a new, fresh, black face on the same status quo could fool the people. It looks like they were right..

I forgot he was black to be honest with you. I never have viewed him as a "black" man; rather just another guy out there trying to make a difference in america whether or not i agree with his politics.

Isn't that relevant to ask of any president?

I was hoping our extra-Constitutional drug war would have been less faithfully executed as a lower priority.

I may find it a form of pursuit of Happiness to vote for the party that is willing to jettison the drug war as a boondoggle and generational form theft in modern times.

    Maybe all of them?

But if it was all of them, maybe ask why the media and politics treats this president differently?

It's as if something happens to all presidents the moment they are sworn in which cancels most of their previous life and opinions. Seems like the CIA, and military, and political power brokers, must meet with new presidents and explain to them how things 'are' going to work. They are elected as one person but a week after taking office they become another person? Somewhere in this process, IMO, this encourages some percentage of the status quo from president to president...

What percentage of Blacks voted for Obama versus past presidents?

What percentage of Whites did not vote for Obama because he is Black?

We know that bigotry and xenophobia is alive and well in the USA so surely even in the halls of Congress there has been overt and covert resistance to a Black president.

While you and I may not care, I suspect many don't share our feelings...

Yes it is relevant to ask all of them. When we have the first Black president, it becomes more relevant. As will it be when we have a female president, or Mormon president, or Jew, or Hispanic, or Muslim...

Not really sure who you are talking to here??

Obama winning or losing this next election has very little to do with his capabilities and performance to date. The electorate has proven it does not give a rip about qualifications and experience...

In my opinion, that would be much less of an issue if our elected representatives to government had actual solutions to our modern social dilemmas, instead of merely political passions of the moment.

Is it wrong for a mostly nice guy to believe that a black president may have a greater stake hold in black issues in the US, and simply free-ride on any privileges and immunities thereby established?

I would prefer that government stay 100% out of social issues. It is a proven fact in the USA that if we ask a social question to 100 Americans we will get 105 varying and opposing responses! If we cannot find any consensus on social issues, then government should mind their own business...

I agree with you in many cases, especially our wasteful War on Drugs which could be considered a boondoggle and generational form of theft since we could be building more schools and universities with that form of Commerce well regulated among the several States.

Let's see how Obama handles 'Black issues' as he panders for votes in the next few months?

13% of the American public are Black and I suspect a large percentage are hoping that Obama speaks directly to them. It would be no different if we had a female president in which most females are going to resonate differently than men.

I suspect if Obama loses re-election, the racial BS will ratchet up some in the vein of 'we gave them a chance and they failed'. I hope I am wrong...

I do not wish to legalize drugs solely for taxation purposes. I do not wish to stroll around my town and have people standing around smoking pot or snorting cocaine, etc. I suspect the current drug laws need to be reviewed and many of them changed, but I never wish to see soft and hard drugs legalized...

In my opinion, we merely need a recreational drug category that includes alcohol and tobacco.

What has Obama done about drug abuse and legalization?
