You have your opinion and I have mine. As a friend of mine says, that's why they make vanilla and chocolate.

I don't know why you would say I do not understand that point. I indeed do understand it. And yet change in science, the death of materialism would have to come at the pace of tombstones. Given that scientists are human beings just as we all are. So, there will be great resistance, but eventually that will die out as materialism dies out.

Thinking in materialism, instead of thinking in information is not the same kind of thinking. It would be a shift in paradigm with wide reaching consequences even if it did occur at the pace of tombstones.

Of course this sounds like nonsense to those who cannot grasp the fact that philosophical materialism, which is the foundation for much of scientific understanding, is nothing but an assumption. And with that assumption we look at reality, thinking that we have a handle on it, when indeed we very well may not. If information is fundamental and not matter, that is a game changer. It has to be. Whether people will accept it or not, the hard core materialists.

You're entitled to your own opinion, and even to your own reality to some extent, but don't expect the rest of us to live in it.

It is obvious TO YOU and even more obviously impossible to ME. The difference being my belief is based on proven and verifiable fact and yours is based on....well...an old book.

Don't give me that jazz, my belief is based on experience and yours is based on prejudice. Or bigotry. Take your pick, I would have less of a problem with that if you'd just be honest about it, most of you just hate what we believe because we believe it.

And we vote. Some of you REALLY hate that.

In my experience animals do not speak to humans, there is insufficient water to inundate the planet, reanimation of dead humans does not happen, spontaneous conversion of water to wine is not possible,,,,etc...which makes belief in everything within that book questionable at the very least. That YOU have experienced things that personally convince you otherwise is irrelevant to the reality I deal with daily. Any prejudice I feel is a result of my requiring the tangible for belief...I simply do not care if you do not.

Is it possible to embrace the liberal doctrine while still acting as a Christian in life?

For me I see far too many differences for someone to be both.

Sure you can go to church once a year on Easter and call yourself a Christian but you really aren't.

So can you be a practicing liberal, believing what they do, and also believe in what God says and avoid conflict there or must you change the teachings of God to fit your ideology?

Yup, but how else can a good christian stir up and promote hate if they don't lie and say nasty things just like Jesus told them to .

Yeah, I know atheists get stuck on those things and stop there, but what impressed me about what the Bible says is that yes, men will kill, steal, commit adultery, etc. etc. Atheists like to blame the evils of the world on the God that doesn't exist (according to them) but the reality is that the evils of the world are the fault of mankind, who, in spite of what Oprah tells you, are inherently corrupt, not little pieces of God. Some cause evil and others do nothing to prevent it - sins of omission, as we say. The Bible doesn't blow smoke up your ass and try to convince you that you are a good person, God knows you are one of us with the same flaws and foibles.

That is universal. Some would wish that God had made us mindless automatons incapable of getting into trouble but that ship has sailed.

If human psychology is not "tangible" enough for you I can't help that and it's not my problem, anyway. Today's reading is about the working of the Holy Spirit. You can't just change your mind in order to reform yourself, you have to change your heart, or your way of looking at things. People pay hundreds and thousands of dollars for books telling them these kinds of things when they could get it in Church for free.

    There's some reality for you.

I didn’t realize atheists blame all the evils on god....I kind of see it the opposite way where people blame atheists for not believing. Oh wonderful example is blaming problems we have with teenagers because we took out religion in schools

That's funny. You apparently missed the point of this story:

The Feeding of the 5,000 is also known as the "miracle of the five loaves and two fish", because the Gospel of John reports that five barley loaves and two small fish supplied by a boy were used by Jesus to feed a multitude.

The point is that he got those with fish and bread to share, and he distributed smaller portions to everyone so that everyone ate. It is a perfect, and I mean perfect, example of Jesus being a liberal socialist.

The feeding of the 5000 prefigured the Eucharistic feast, it had nothing to do with communism.

Suuuure don't look like it from here, pilgrim.
Not if the lie that replaces it is at least as attractive.
Get real, if those doing the thinking are lovers of lies there isn't a dime's worth of difference.
Actually it isn't, because not all assumptions are lies.
