Can you be liberal and Christian at the same time?

It is a license to discriminate based on magical religious beliefs. And if you think that protection was truly meant for all religious beliefs, you are as naive as they come. It was meant to allow evangelical christians to discriminate based on a very narrow swath of belief. And pence was rightly attacked and had to walk it back, just to save his own skin. And that didn't work well, so he got bailed out by getting on the Trump ticket. If not for being a puppet used to soothe evangelicals, pence would be out of politics, lobbying for religious nutballs in congress.

Jesus Christ was not liberal with the use of force, legal or otherwise. Jesus Christ would not have even his very best intentions for others imposed upon them by force, not even by force of law. Jesus Christ advocated for the voluntary not the compulsory. Jesus Christ advocated for charity, which has a completely voluntary nature. No one in human history was more tolerant than Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ judged everything and everyone; he condoned very little and condemned even less. Jesus is the best example of tolerance. My politics are premised upon the tolerance Jesus Christ exampled not the condemnation he will one day meet out.

 

Well, those are nice, happy thoughts, but happy thoughts don't solve our societal problems. That's why we had to invent the safety net in the first place.

There's no law compelling door to door salespersons to knock on each and every door, and I would oppose creation of any such law or legal action compelling or complaining.
