    From the article

"In 2007, Chicago's budget had a $94 million deficit. By the time current Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel took office in 2011, after years of steadily rising structural deficits and a crippling recession, the city was facing a $650 million annual budget gap, not to mention billions upon billions of dollars in unfunded public pension liabilities.

Emanuel's solution has been to try and nickel-and-dime his way out of these massive budget gaps. The Emanuel administration has jacked up the costs on just about every minor tax, fine, and permit on the city's books: cigarette taxes, restaurant permits, valet and loading zone fees for businesses, cable television fees, mandatory vehicle stickers, towing fees, water and sewage, garbage collection, garage parking, even a fine for allowing weeds in one's yard to grow too tall. His most recent budget proposal increases taxes for Uber and Lyft rides, monthly telephone bills, and big-draw sports and music events."

Taking it from the pockets of those who can least afford it....

I highlighted the problem. Democrats never learn, the form of government the continue to support is classic "the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away"! Someday they will figure it out ;)

That's a pretty long article and I stopped when I got to this point:

Who knew Chicago had zero tolerance on drugs or impounded cars for loud music?

    Bravo , The Democrat way.

Now looking to pilfer the peoples pockets to make up for it.

Maybe they should find a way to tax people for getting shot, they seem to be strong in that sector. Might add up and help.

the problem is the Bush economic downturn, the foreign outsourcing, the cheap imports, more and more cities and states are starting to feel it

greedy corps are destroying the American dream

why I support Trumps Tariffs and hope he address foreign outsourcing as well

Don't you think something like this could be likely to happen to the country on a nation-wide level?
I mean, things like this are what happens when government is desperately searching around to find ways to add revenue trying to pay down out of control debts.

To compound matters, there are multiple levels of government debt: state, city, federal, and the same taxpayers will be liable for it all, not to mention the high levels of personal debt in the U.S.

Ha ha ha... however misguided, at least they’re trying! Unlike other Democrats :)

    My friend,

Government is “searching around to find ways to add revenue” NOT to pay down out of control debts, but to expand entitlement programs.

    Jeeeee.... :oldman:

I think it's been an ongoing thing for much longer then just a few years ago. My father worked at the Ford plant in Milpitas, Calif when foreign influence had finally chipped away at the domestic auto factories and it was closed in 1983.. It's been a growing problem even in the mid 70's, the FMC was warning that sale on domestic autos were waning at every UAW contract negotiation and that it was Inevitable that either the Detroit or Milpitas plant would be facing closure.. Of course we know Detroit won, they were wise enough to take less increases whereas the Cali plant thought it was a company scare tactic :)

Towing companies are known for picking up cars parked legally. Then the owner has to pay up to $500 to get their car back.

It's not just Democrats who do this. Body shops and towing companies are often shady at best.

FYI, property confiscation by all levels of government in all states is out of control.

Correct, all levels of government are doing this, in all states, it is ridiculous the petty excuses they are using to confiscate property.

I support a single import tariff value as the source for all Federal revenue, and a single consumption tax as the source for all state revenue.

Maybe they're hard on loose cigarettes, too.
