China is able to put 14 bullet trains into operation quickly, with own designs, why not US?

It's also very bad out in the central valley around Sacramento. We live in Triology Rio Vista and many people from Antioch, Pittsburg, Modesto, etc have moved here to be in a gated community away from the gangs which have taken over.

Where the bridge ends, and highway 12 continues towards Lodi, I worked on the roadbed adjacent to the Levee. We drove sand piles into the peat to drain the water. I wonder if the highway next to the levy has settled? I so seldom get to that area these days.

I recall guys on the job discussing local farmers in Rio Vista who had thousands of dollars on them. They profited from natural Gas I believe. Not sure any oil is there. They built some very large and nice homes. Plenty of bar room tales about those farmers.

By the way, sand piles were also driven at the approach to the Antioch bridge. I did not work on that job.

Here is how the sand pile is driven and works.

A steel tube, maybe 2 feet in diameter or more, has a cable attached at the bottom by a welder. The cable is attached to a round steel plate as a bottom door. The tube is picked up by the pile driver and put on a staked area. It is driven into the soil below and when at maximum depth, the top with a square trap door opens. Sand is poured in there by concrete trucks. Or Sand can be dumped onto a pile and machinery used to scoop it up and dump sand into the top hopper. Once the tube is full of sand, next comes sealing the top and locking the lid. Then comes the air pressure from a very powerful air compressor. I forget the amount of air pressure but it is high. Then once the tube is full of air, the pile driver pulls up the steel tube and the sand remains in the hole. We did that thousands of times for the road bed.

I got my pilots license in 1980 and then it was illegal. Holy cow, that was 37 years ago.

Go on from the USA governments, and yes there are multiple governments ruling our lives here in the USA, to the one size fits all China? China can do what it pleases. Nobody can stop them.

The Chinese I speak to say they like the super fast rail in China and when they return, they ride it. Being state owned means the ticket prices are not remotely as high as here in the USA.

Sorry that isn't what you use high speed rail for. that sort of thing is why the top end for the only supposed high speed rail train Amtrak runs never gets above 80 mph. Every politician along the route insisted that it stop in his district. Accel and decel take time and distance. Remember The chunnel train only makes three stops London Paris and Berlin.

The UP OWNED when they built the railroad. They no longer own those rights they have been sold off.

Too expensive and 350 kph is wonderful if you have nowhere to stop but in America, we have lots of places that the train would be stopping and starting off again, so kind of pointless.

Well crooks and cons who can't make it without government subsidies and protections do. Most corporate and almost all trial lawyer money goes to Democrats.
