Small number of company could do it only. But it is not a cellular phone yet. Do you remember about attempt of Samsung to develop WiMAX modem? Where is this WiMAX? Most of companies you referred buy ASIC modules from each other with dubious quality only. Do you know, that there are only 3 companies that can do chips today? And AMD is produced on Intel factory now... But you say about some competition. It's the hard monopoly!
