I'm far from being an expert on military technology, yet the below report about China's apparent haste to acquire a meaningful navy struck me as interesting and points, I think, to their determination to assume the role of a world power.

China has been doing this for years. The massive naval buildup is well into its second decade. China is already using its naval build up to help enforce its massive territorial grab in the Sth China Sea & will use it for more of the same.

The result of this has been an arms race in Sth East Asia, with submarines being a particular favourite. While some people may be excited at the prospect of a huge, expansive dictatorship challenging the evil Americans, China's neighbours have enough of an understanding of history to know what a powerful, expansive China means. When Vietnam is welcoming the USN back to Cam Ranh Bay you get a sense of just how threatening this new military power is to the region.

Sadly the interests of those nations will be trampled underfoot while the supposed advocates of the 'oppressed' cheer from the sidelines.

There could be conflict in the South China Sea.
China is trying to claim it as their territory since they feel enclosed by all the islands of other nations off their coast and want to establish secure access to the ocean and trading routes beyond.

China is stupid. They have no way of competing militarily with anyone on the planet. They are living in the past, in the shadows of their ancient dynasties and wasting their money. They can't even create their own weaponry! They have to steal tech from other countries to maintain any sense of technological relevancy!

They are too arrogant to know any better. Same with Russia. Stuck in the past cause they're lost since the Berlin Wall fell.

Based on that post China isn't the stupid one here. I guess all those nations on their periphery who are concerned about their military might are just stupid too. You should probably contact them & share your insights. No doubt they will realise the error of their ways & stop worrying.

Wow that was probably the dumbest & incoherent rebuttal I've read in a while. I mean there wasn't even an intelligent response anywhere in that paragraph. You must be an antifa member. Is your Fortnite game over?

Yet it was so much more substantial than what you posted.

China's military buildup is achieving precisely what it was intended to achieve and its neighbours know it. So does the US Government. Unless the intent of your post was to make you look like a fool then China is doing better than you are.

To tell you how long this has been going on, I remember my father telling me in the mid 1950's that the worst enemy the US would ever face would be China. At the time China was huge, highly populated backwater country. Things have changed.

Let me know what freedoms their people enjoy without government intervention then tell me again that they’re not living in the past shadows of dynasties long gone.

As for my link how many links do you want? Or have you been living under a rock? They constantly steal technology. This is t new news.

Lack of freedom does not prove they are living in the past.

So? That means they outsmart the US with spying. How can that be when they are living in the past?

my opinion is we always need an enemy to justify the military spending. China is a rising power, it has vast interest and investment overseas, Africa, S.america, middle east just name a few. So of course they gonna build their navy, no nation or rising power gonna stand idle when its obvious US clearly made china as long term threat, a new cold war rival. In the 80s, they work with US to counter USSR, how things are changed.

as for ScS, I don't buy that, they want entire ScS as its territory, but they are claiming the islands and resource in the region.

Take the CNN news crew on P8, and fly over top of china claimed island few days ago. Its like US navy intentionally invite CNN on a P8, intentionally fly over china occupied island that has been occupied by china since 70s, just to provoke a response. Meanwhile, the ScS code of conduct are near completion between ASEAN and China. Gotta to say, the timing just incredible.

The Chi-Coms don't have to steal our technology, the DNC and the Clinton Crime Family already gave the Chi-Coms our top secret technology.

    Remember Chinagate ???

It went beyond China meddling in our elections.

Didn’t they acquire stealth technology when a copter crashed during the Bin Laden raid?

    That's the scuttlebutt.

"Operation Neptune Spear" (the assassination (murder) of Osama bin Laden) sure wasn't a text book operation.

The mission was accomplished but sure a lot of screw ups.

What were they thinking what would happen with the rotor wash when landing a MH-60 into a box ?

There are five different proper ways to secure a building and the Navy SEAL's used the least desirable way of doing it.

70% of stealth are from the shape of plane, well there are plenty pictures of F22,B2 on the internet, so its easy for them to know the characteristics of the stealth. Also in 1999 Bosnian war, china got parts of shoot down F-117 plane. On top of their improve manufacture, electronic, and material capabilities, they can now produce a decent stealth plane.

Only the US is allowed to spend outrageous amounts of money on its military and have a global military presence and destroy countries at will. China is trying to horn in on our action.
