    You are proselytizing which is off-putting. Besides that, your posts are too long and your formatting is hard to read.

    * Thanks for your comments.
    * My view is there will be trillions and trillions of human
    beings born before human history comes to an end.
    * I see no reason why the human race will not continue
    for say 1,000,000 years. Or much longer.
    * Only God knows when the last day of human
    Time will be.
    * Anyway my Opening Post anticipates many
    hundreds of thousands of years of future time
    for humanity.
    * Plenty of time for the numbers to reach into the
    trillions.
    _______

    You might find this interesting:
    If you google it, the web will tell you that there
    has been about 108 billion human beings born
    to date --and we have approx 6000 years
    of recorded human history.

    * LOL
    * So much for serious discussion.
    * I go to the trouble to write you serious posts.
    * Anybody who reads the thread SEES that I wrote you
    serious posts trying to have a decent discussion with you.
    * But No! --- You'd rather make accusations.

    Then don't read them.

    I don't read them. This is a political forum (hence the name). Maybe your messages would be better received if you started a blog or set up a YouTube channel. There is a reason we have a separation of church and state.

    * Sure you do.
    * I think you like them.

    * But if you don't read them.
    * Then why are you talking about posts that you don't read?

    You're amazingly confused.
    This is the Religion department of this Forum.
    The RELIGION department.
    You mean you didn't know that?

    *Maybe your messages would be better received if you started
    a blog or set up a YouTube channel.
    * When do you plan to do that?

    * LOL
    * You think because I quote a Bible verse in the Religion department
    of this Forum -- that I am violating the principle of the seperation
    of church and state.
    * You DO realize don't you, that is irrational?

    Written history and recorded history are not really the same thing.
    35,000 year old cave paintings are recorded history.

    Back to the premise though, no matter how long mankind exists there will never be as many people, alive or dead, as there are stars in the sky.

    Okay. I see the distinction.
    Thanks for the help.

    * That you can't know for certain.
    * That'd be impossible to know.
    * We don't know that human history will not continue for
    50,000,000 years. Or 100,000,000. . . 500,000,000
    * However, let us say that the "stars in the sky" is a
    poetic hyperbole or a metaphor for trillions and
    trillion.
    * That'd be good enough for me.
    * And we CAN say that its at least that much,
    that is, a poetic hyperbole that could end up being
    trillions and trillions.
    * By the way, compare Revelation 7:9-10
    _________________________________________
    "there before me was a great multitude that no
    one could count, from every nation, tribe, people
    and language, standing before the throne and
    before the Lamb"___Rev. 7:9-10
    ________________________________________
    * The point is a huge-enormous number.
    * Trillions and trillions, I believe.
    * God does nothing on a small tiny dinky scale.

    You very clearly do no believe in the messianic Christ. The Jews have been waiting for the Messiah since the beginning of time so a handful of them abandoned the vigil and concocted a new messiah in Christ but when Jesus did not fulfil the messianic prophecies with his arrival his "self-proclaimed" followers were (and are) left waiting for another eternity together with devoted Jews. Human lust for answers to the big question will not stand idly twiddling their thumbs and so Christianity will not swell in numbers as you say. No ..... a new religion will be founded instead, one with a promise a of new messiah. Actually, this has already been accomplished in the teachings of Islam, and Scientology, and moonies, and Aum Shinrikyo, and Heaven's Gate, and Branch Davidians, and Order of the Solar Temple, and Peoples Temple, and many many more.

    Um - No - at least not while humans are living on earth. There is not enough space on the planet to fit as many people as stars in the sky.

    The number you are trying to hit - in case you were curious - is:

    1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 or One Billion Trillion people.

    We are nowhere near 1 Trillion people - never mind a Billion Trillion.

    If you want to tell if a christian is genuine just note whether they consistently live by the golden rule Christ told us about.

    You won't find many genuine followers of Christ.. No matter how the person can quote scripture from memory Book, chapter and verse.

    The proof comes forth in how the person treats others..

    Yes, you are doing it correctly.

    The [ + Quote ] option enables you to quote multiple posts from different posters at the same time. It is called the MultiQuote function.

    For example I used that option on your post before using Reply and an [ Insert Quotes ] button shows up in the Response section. When I click on it there is a Pop Up window with your quote in it that I can select and it will post your quote again below.

    Obviously you would use this for other posts so that was just a demonstration.

    There is another aspect to the MultiQuote function that is similar where I simply highlighted a segment of your post which produces a popup that gives me the choice of [ Quote/Reply ]. I selected Quote and it added that sentence to the MultiQuote. Now I can click on the [Insert Quotes] button below and select your sentence from another post.

    Play around with them until you become familiar with how they function.

    BTW when you use the Quote and MultiQuote functions you must leave the quoted text exactly as originally written because it is a rule violation to edit and/or change the quotes of anyone else.

    ________

    Regarding your concerns about not enough space:
    I once read an article that explained how, with our
    existing technology, we could house the entire
    world's population in just the state of Texas and
    give each person a couple of acres of space.
    The idea was to
    {1} go up {skyscrapers}
    {2} go wide {{build buildings that are off the charts in length and width}
    {3} build dwelling places on certain parts of Earth's water
    ---------
    We can add
    {4} build cities in space {at the distance we now have access to}

    In the year say 100,000 A.D. we could easily have
    the technology to build a building as tall as the
    Empire State Building and 20 square miles in
    length/width. Science and Technology can
    do this. And not just one building like that
    but as many as are needed to house untold
    billions of human beings in the future.

    So?
    So I am going to hold to this:
    * We don't know that human history will not continue for
    50,000,000 years. Or 100,000,000. . . 500,000,000

    I might agree with you except that it was not Christ who introduced the golden rule. The Jews have had it as their motto long before the boy from Nazareth was a gleam in his illegitimate father’s eye, whoever that might have been.

    I’ve been told to take a flying **** on a number of occasions and I’ve had a shag aboard an aeroplane once but I don’t think that is precisely what was expected of me.

    Indisputable logic.

    I am a math/science guy so I appreciate the number / analogy you have given.

    So if you take the entire population of the world - and manage to fit it into Texas

    World - 510 million km^2 700,000 km^ in Texas - so round numbers this would be 500- 1000 x the current population of the planet.

    Lets take the high number 1000 - times the world population 8 Billion - and you have 8 Trillion people.

    While this is many - it is nowhere near a billion Trillion. good question as we now have a better understanding of how big of a number this is.

    I already covered the possibility of space travel - we will need it to get to that population.

    I agree that the visions some fellow had will be filled with such "Poetic hyperbole" - and in fact should be read that way - be it Nosta damus - Edward Casey - or various others who have had glimpses into the other side. - such as the fellow who wrote Daniel or Revelations.

    Where in the O.T. was the golden rule taught? Just curious. The Jews were known to not love their.enemies but to kill them..The OT is full of that.

    Giftedone,
    That was a very interest-grabbing response.
    Thanks for that. I appreciate it.
    All this is fascinating stuff to be sure.

    I am going to throw some stuff out here for your consideration.
    Read it friendly-like.
    Its kinda sci-fi-y but with Christian over-tones.
    You have a cool mind. I read your post up there.

    My conception of the God of the Bible is that He is the God-Of-The-Hubble-Deep-Field,
    by which I mean that His Plans for His Human Race Project are "off the charts" with
    regard to size and numbers. And space. If you define space as the distance between
    objects -- think of the distance between Earth and Andromeda and some star at the
    "edge of the Universe."

    I believe we have to look at the Universe to see just how BIG His Plans are. My view
    is that its unreasonable to believe that God created the Universe to remain uninhabited.

    If I am correct this means that the numbers are going to become unmanageable.
    Please read that sentence one more time. /grin

    A Universe filled with His intelligent creatures would hit numbers that we'd now say were
    absurd. Grab hold to your chair and hold on -- here it comes. To fill the Universe we'd
    need to start with a trillion to the power of a trillion , , LOL , , , No! I am NOT kidding.

    I'm as serious as I can be. A trillion to the power of a trillion. And that is only a start.

    Add this: We do not know that the God of the Bible is through creating stars and planets.
    For all we know His creating process will NEVER END. What is the Logic?

    Here it is:

    If its a good thing to create one intelligent being that can enjoy life and make a contribution
    to others, then its a BETTER THING to create two, rather than just the one. Now keep going
    with this principle: If its a good thing to create 1000 intelligent beings that can enjoy life
    and make a contribution to others, then its a BETTER THING to create 2000. Ect ect
    This principle will logically lead you to numbers of humans "off the charts."

    I do know one thing. The God that created this Universe thinks BIG and I mean
    BIG as BIG OFF THE CHARTS. So? So its very reasonable to believe that He has
    Plans for His Human race Project that will be incomprehensible to the present human
    mind. With regard to the number of future humans in the Universe , , ,

    , , , after we reach the one trillion to the power of one trillion number , , ,

    , , ,let's move on to 999 trillion to the power of 999 trillion. Now that is still
    thinking way to small. How so? Because you do know how big the known
    Universe is. I say the KNOWN Universe. Just think of the size of the UNKNOWN
    Universe.

    You are familiar with the Evolutionary process. Progress. You know about Theistic Evolution.
    The God that created this Universe is working on the great principle of Progress.
    Magnificent wonderful certain inevitable on-coming Progress. Human progress.
    Think what the smart phones will look like in the year 10,000 A.D. {or 20,000 A.D.}
    Think what our vehicles will look like in the year 10,000 A.D.
    Our homes.
    Our appliances.
    Our "747's"
    ______

    The Human Race is now in its infancy.
    We're only in about the Third Grade. {and we act like it too -- you watch cable news}
    It will be many mega-millenniums before we graduate up to say the Fifth Grade.
    The cure for the 21st Century is the 22nd century.
    The cure for the 22nd century is the 23rd century.
    Compare the year 1865 A.D. with the year 2020 A.D. , , , Progress!

    Again I'm just throwing out some stuff here for your consideration.

    Have you ever viewed Hubble Deep Field videos on You Tube?
    They will dwarf your mind. This is good. Expands your horizons.
    I see no scientific or technological problem with buildings that
    are as tall as the Empire State Building and also 20 square
    miles in width/length in say the year 20,000 A.D. We have much
    MORE than that NOW in terms of square footage under roofs,
    the buildings are just not connected together.

    I once read a book titled "Your God Is To Small."
    This is so true.
    No matter how BIG you think God is, you are underestimating Him.
    The New Testament says
    ____________________________________________________
    "However, as it is written: "What no eye has seen, what no ear has
    heard, and what no human mind has conceived - the things God
    has prepared for those who love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9

    I hope you will give me some of your thoughts on this subject.
    I look forward to reading them.

    I do some math based on the interesting numbers put up by Jag in Post 47 :)

    You are correct that Jesus did not invent the Golden Rule - Hamurrabi had this rule and other ancient legal systems - Buddha and Confucius cited this rule.

    Just prior to Jesus - Rabbi Hillel 100 BC to 10 AD - and very famous Rabbi when asked to sum up the teachings of the Torah said to the inquisitor - "That which is hateful to you - do not do to your fellow"

    Jesus echo's this in Matt 7:12 "Do unto others as you would have done to you - This sums up the Law and the Prophets"

    While Jesus didn't invent this rule - it is the Rule on which his teachings are based.

    For this reason I agree with the following:
