Wish I had a dollar for every time I've heard the left use the word tipping point in their constant end of world scenarios. Seems we are always on the verge of catastrophe according to the leftist and guess what. The only way catastrophe can be averted is to vote for democrats in the US or whatever party is on the left in other countries. "Be afraid, vote left"

The term "Tipping Point" is used for good reason as it indicates a point where going back is no longer an option. A few tipping points have already been reached in my opinion and effects are now taking place...ocean albedo comes to mind. I think you expect an immediate and in your face event or disaster....that is not how it works. A point is reached where something has changed and impacts set in motion...it may take months, years or decades to be felt but is happening in the background regardless. As an example we reached the permafrost tip about a decade ago and are just now noting initial effect.

The atmospheric effects will not be felt for years however.

You missed my point entirely. Over my life of nearly eighty years I've seen countless tipping points come and go. The phrase is used to sew fear into people and coerce them into voting a certain way which is generally democrat.

So, you know that it's fantasy when even the faithful have to use terms like "could". Because the data that they are referring to suggests that in almost all conditions none of these outcomes will likely happen. Like 98% of the time, these severe outcomes won't happen. But, because there are 6 delta outcomes in the data, those super unlikely outcomes might happen. They just aren't very likely. So, instead, folks use the words, "could", "might", etc because their credibility is at stake, and NO liberal worth their salt would ever actually stand behind these stupid predictions. They simply want to sew fear in the minds of those they think are weak. And surprise, it sort of works. Except every time they go to this well, their ability to remain credible diminishes. Ask uncle Bore. He told us by 2016 Boston would be under 12 feet of water. He "guaranteed" that it "could" happen. And of course, it might have given a huge number of unlikely outcomes, but yes, it could have, but, clearly it did not. And just as unlikely are the outcomes from the down under think tank who also understand that their political preferences have to be forced on folks who otherwise would ignore their obvious stupidity, and they need to scare folks into it.

Okay...you are free to believe as you wish and we will both be dead before anything gets seriously bad anyway.

That's all I ask from true believers. Don't force me by law and regulations to live by your beliefs. Funny part is you don't live by your beliefs either and in fact live just as I do. Like all religions though it's more important that you believe than it is how you actually live your life. You are saved while I walk in darkness. LOL

Tecoyah is a true believer. You guys go to the same church. Try to keep up. On the other hand he is a different sect of true believer and thinks there is no hope while you think democrats can save us from ruin. All religions eventually fracture into different sects.

The polar ice caps are melting.....weather patterns are becoming more extreme....coastal cities are fighting to keep rising high tides out of their downtowns....

But...let's wait and see what happens.

When were the polar ice caps not melting? I'll answer for you. It was during the last ice age.

LOL!!!! IOW Republicans SO THOROUGHLY refuse to allow any effort to address it because they are so married to fossil fuel donors that the only way to address it is to NOT appeal to them! The Republicans and the entire right put themselves in the position of being on the side that is causing the climate to continue to keep changing, and then they bitch that people don't look to them to address it. LOL!!!!!!!!!

They move the date every so often. In the 1980's it was by 2000.

Are you offended to HEAR about tipping points because you think tipping points do not exist?

FWIW.... one of the primary arguments of skeptic community is that climate is a chaotic system which therefore cannot be predicted. Do you agree? If so, one of the characteristics of a chaotic system is that disturbances to the system can have non linear effects (tipping points). Do you disagree, or do you just dislike being reminded of that reality?

Always on the verge of a catastrophe.... that sounds like innumerable apocalyptic end of times Preaching of a fundamentalist ministers for the last 2000 years. And whenever a democrat is in office, we are constantly reminded how budget deficits will cause runaway inflation and destroy the nation. We are told that what the president is doing is tantamount to turning destruction of the constitution, or the country has become dictatorship, or we have become a socialist country, or the government is oppressive, etc. Is that what you mean by tiresome catastrophic doom saying?
If climate human caused climate change were real, and serious.... what should be done by people?

Indeed that's the game democrats play. Convince people the world is ending and Republicans are the villian in the piece.

This seems to be where you always ultimately go and you even started a thread based on the hypothetical. If seems to be your favorite word. Sorry but most of us live our lives based on reality and we don't run around like chickens with their heads cut off based on all the if's in life.

I was just reading an article in the WSJ about how millennials are so suckered by leftist politicians and media, that they're not bothering with 401Ks, because, of course, the cow fart pockyclypse will have killed them all before they make it to retirement age.

Millennials Blame Climate Change For Small 401Ks is the title of the article.

I'm sitting here laughing while I think about all the stupid, brokeass suckers who are going to be living in flop houses and eating dog food on saltine crackers in their golden years, because they believed the Chicken Little crap CNN and AOC fed them when they were young and dumb.
