7 people, six of them tourists have been killed in Greece and 23 hospitalised after freak weather presumably due to the climate emergency.

You can say that after what your farmers experienced this spring which is almost certainly going to lead to a poor harvest and high cost of grain to you this Autumn. You can say this despite having many many people having to leave their homes which are now under water. You will be hit by climate disaster whether you decide to face reality or not - and I accept your government does not make that easy. I could say I will be laughing at you then but this is no laughing matter.

Food prices are about to drop due to over production. Here in the US it has actually gotten cooler over the last two decades according to the only network built to measure temperatures.

You also evidently don't know what the alarmism is based on. It isn't based on observed science but the least likely computer model RCP8.5. The IPCC does not give current weather events caused by 'climate change' much confidence. As it is, the alarmist scenarios are supposed to be happening off into the future, not now so basically you are making claims not backed up by science.

Sea levels have risen since the end of the last glaciation and will drop during the next glaciation. That is a lot of sea level rise before SUV's.

I've no idea which side of the political debate surrounding climate change you think you're helping with that silly rhetoric but either way you're just making yourself look bad.

Your talking about things like Soyabeans and other things affected by Trumps trade wars. Your 'over production' is due to no longer having customers.
I very much doubt that is true. We have had something like 4 out of 5 of the hottest summers in the last 5 years. Even if it was true the US is not affected for climate disaster just by the US. The world temp has already risen by one degree. Think that ain't much
    https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/world-of-change/decadaltemp.php

We are in a climate emergency.

The IPCC gives the lowest possible outcome because it has to have an agreement between everyone. That means the best deal you have is that you reach 2100 if massive changes are not made. However given that they have on every single prediction massively underestimate, I think their last was that we had until 2050, just recently this was revised down to another 12 years. Now you are correct that it cannot be estimated to the day or even the year but we do know it is already in force and scientists can give their best estimates. There are various tipping points which could push us into massive sudden catastrophe if we are not ready. There is one man who believes it is too late and imagines it will happen very soon but most scientists believe we still have time to mainly save things. Not save all things. Water is becoming a luxury in India and the rich are stealing it from the poor. That is climate change in action. There is nothing which has been invented which can put back climate change, can make it as if it was not and we could carry on as we are now. Nothing yet invented and no sign of anything being invented. Hence the position is at any time from now to the turn of the century if we do not change as we are living their will be human extinction apart from the super rich who have created for themselves villages they believe will be safe - where they and there offspring can live for hundreds of thousands possibly millions of years. For the rest of us it is hoped if we start working hard now, which no doubt we will not, then by 12 years we will have got ourselves into a position where we can survive and manage damaged already done. That may go on for 20 years to 2040 but we are likely to be experiencing extreme problems by then. If the gods are with us which is unlikely as the longer time goes on the more damage we do, we might make 2050. 2100 without massive work is just a dream. I have read how they try to keep US citizens blind as to what is going on by refusing to give you information. Only recently Trump decided on changes which would stop people putting up warnings. The biggest culprit for Global warming, the US is unfortunately enough to have at this time running it someone who presumably has been offered a place for his family in one of these elites villages and so has decided having been the biggest culprit in planet destruction not to do its bit in saving the planet.. It makes no difference to me what you believe. I am aware that those involved in making money from Fossil fuels paid scientists to pretend it is not real. I don't believe there are now any scientists who deny the reality that if we do not start acting with the same urgency as we would if we were waiting for an atomic bomb to drop, we are looking at human extinction. It is happening and the end result if left is human extinction at some point between now and 2100. The sooner it is tackled the better quality of life we will have for the future. The longer we let if go which is what we are still doing, the worse conditions those who come after will need to face and we will be more likely to experience human extinction

Honest Joe you don't believe having temperatures of 45 degrees in Europe is abnormal?

I take it you do not believe in climate change.

Yes, but attributing a single storm event to "the climate emergency" is still stupid rhetoric.

You believe that human beings can live on this planet when other species go extinct.

    https://www.biologicaldiversity.org...y/elements_of_biodiversity/extinction_crisis/

when you add to that we are currently only experiencing the degree of destruction of the planet that was created 20 or thirty years ago, things are going to get a lot worse before they stabilise.

My mother taught me this when I was very small.

He who knows and knows not that he knows is asleep - waken him
he who knows not and knows that he knows not is ignorant - teach him
he who knows not and knows not that he knows not is a fool - shun him.
He who knows and knows that he knows is wise - follow him

No it is not. That you are calling it such is either your ignorance or your dislike of me. Even the way you put it - a single storm. Do you really believe this is the only abnormal weather we are experiencing. It was described as an unprecedented phenomenon.

I believe it is your ignorance of the climate emergeny which makes you believe this is the only example of it.
I have no interest in speaking to rude posters so consider this conversation over.

For people who do not know the UK Government agreed some months ago that what we are in is Climate Emergency - but is not acting as so.

This video gives a bit of an update as to how quickly things are getting worse...and it is happening quicker and quicker all the time.

Here is what we can expect at the moment.

By 2030 a tenth of the world will not have sufficient drinking water and if you go to India it is half of the population. South Africa is also already having dire problems. Obviously no water no life. That is not counting those already without water. The UN is estimating there will be tens of millions of climate refugees by 2030

It is believed that society as we know it will die and we will be divided by money. Those with it will get the available food and water, those without will die. Even if everyone were to do the most they could right away, which of course they are not, many people in the world would find themselves impoverised and without the means of survival. This is what the US is seeing already in the migrants arriving. It is not just the murderous regimes the US has put in but also climate disaster. The US Government denies it is happening and puts children in cages/concentration camps apart from their parents. The world ought to be stopping its wars and coming together to work on this. It is estimated that the poorest countries of the world will bare about 70% of the cost when they have only provided 10% of the damage.

I don't know what you are saying. Are you suggesting it does not matter if we are destroying the world and there will be no where for future generations? Would you feel fine getting engaged in nuclear war?

LOL, Monsoon season is now climate change. I hope you realize this happens every year and there is no trend in floods globally.

You mean like the weasel word 'likely' in the video of an alarmist. Yes, I understand apparently much better than you do.

No I mean like you being so uneducated on it that you believe that if there are extra heavy monsoons it means there is no problem with the climate. I also mean your lack of the most basic education which allows you to believe you know more than the UN and top scientists. You are just trying to destroy this thread. Basically trolling. If you have nothing to offer stay out.

It's called weather. Not even the IPCC has confidence that current weather events have anything to do with climate change so I guess you should read before you spout off with alarmist clap trap. It appears you think and alarmist journalist is 'the UN and top scientists'.

The world destroys itself that is the nature of existence...actually it changes forms when the energy is altered to another form.

No, that is not what we are talking about. We are talking about our effect on the world since the Industrial Revolution, the damage we have done to it which to some extent has been known since pretty near the beginning. Certainly by the 1940's people were well aware that they were damaging the world. I have a feeling you may be around my age. Do you not remember the magazine, one issue, which was brought out I think in 72 which listed all the things which were running out and other ways in which we were destroying the planet - Huxley was one of those involved. I think that had some effect on people reducing the size of their families. Now we know if we do not change our ways very quickly there will not be the basics to continue our existence. We have known this since the 80's but apart from spray cans the worse damage has been done since then and the biggest culprit is the United States. The 2015 agreement which people are not keeping up with is now seen as being nowhere near enough. We genuinely are on a perilous course and there is every reason to treat this as if it were of the same type of threat as nuclear war and do everything necessary while there is still time. There is as a lot of damage which has been done and which cannot be repaired but there still is the possibility to make sufficient changes so that people will not become extinct. Extinction Rebellion is not a dramatic name. Politicians are more interested in getting in next time to be bothered doing sufficient so Extinction Rebellion have decided they must be encouraged or changed. There has not been one estimate of how bad we will be in the future which has not been severely under estimated. Now we are told we have another 15 or so years to get things in order. Extinction Rebellion says we must make the changes by 2025 - and that is a very good idea given that things could reach a tipping point any time. Unfortunately people still think this is for the future. They think 2100, I do not care if my great grandchildren die, it will not be me. Of course some scientists of no scruples were paid massive money to pretend it was not happening by those involved in fossil fuel who wanted to make as much money as possible while they still could while at the same time developing underground villages for their families. I understand all scientist believe what is happening to us. For American's I hear it is even harder as your media does not report on it and Trump has set in law some new things to make people not know....but no escaping it. We have the opportunity to save the planet. There will be damage and there will be a lot more damage than we are currently seeing as what we are seeing is only the damage up to about 30 years ago...but we still have the possibility to save this world for future generations. Unfortunately it does not look like people can be bothered - even if as is looking likely it will happen within the lifetime of most people living now.

Unfortunately until climate scientists....by that I mean actual scientists dealing in verifiable facts are free to speak and report openly and without fear sanction then tossers like Extinction Rebellion have space to exist. They are peddlers of a miasma of myth and emotional nonsense.

Sea level has risen about 6 inches in 100 years, and that's if we don't question 100 year old measurements.
