Some of us are able to make the distinction between news and commentary.

The worrisome part is that many can not.

The rest of the country voted for Trump.

I did not say there was no news on Fox - just not much - and what there is you can be sure will not go against the Establishment propaganda narrative when it comes to issues that challenge "necessary illusions".

Now if they would do that - then I might agree with terms like "far superior". Fox is also a propaganda arm of the Establishment - and this is a demonstrable fact.

Fox is guilty of the "Sin of Omission" just like CNN and MSNBC - they love to stoke fear - to take away liberty - and are shills for the Military Industrial Complex - because they are owned by MIC club member Murdoch.

You will get the same "Iran is the number 1 State sponsor of terror" false narrative - with no other side of the story. Establishment bureaucracy pundits representing the Pentagon, Intelligence community almost always go unchallenged when it comes to promotion of the Establishment main line. There are a few rare exceptions - Tucker has shocked me on occasion like when he challenged the pundit of the day on the Syrian Missile strike.

Normally however it is the same ol... same ol. Where was the coverage of the Syrian war. When Obama was touting the "Moderate Rebel Lie" he wasn't challenged. Apparently the fact that we were arming and supporting Al Qaeda wasn't news.

Trump goes on TV and says "We defeated ISIS" - and they debate whether or not ISIS is really defeated. No mention of the fact that it was the Syrian Army and the Russians that defeated ISIS and Al Qaeda - and others of the same ilk in Syria - and for most of the war we were on the same side as that ilk.

This is the "Sin of Omission" on steroids. Fox did run an interesting piece on the movement of arms from Benghazi to Syria after Judicial watch obtained some declassified DIA docs. They even went and interviewed a DIA rep who admitted "Yeah we knew these transfers were taking place" - but dodged the question of whether we were orchestrating it - which we now know that we were.

Where is the follow up ? Rand Paul asked Hillary directly about movement of arms from Benghazi to Syria during the Benghazi hearings and she denied any knowledge. You want lying to congress - there you have it. "Lock Her Up".

Now that Obama is gone and the war is over - the details are starting to come out - similar to what happened during the Iraq war.

Fox is not "mostly news" . It is some news - with mostly editorial .. and the question is "what news" . You will not find news that conflicts with the Establishment narrative with respect to challenging "necessary illusions". I gave a few examples in post 59.

That said .. Fox has been much better than CNN and MSNBC over the last couple of years... on this we can agree.

Agreed - 12 years of school and we manage not to teach the principles on which this nation was founded .. nor the basics of Philosophy (logic, logical fallacy, what constitutes a valid argument, critical thinking) .. never mind critical thinking with respect to State Propaganda.

Orwell's 1984 used to be taught. Now that the Establishment is using that book as a textbook - not so much :)

Fox is heading in the same direction with the recent changes. Hiring Donna Brazile of all people, taking off Pirro's show, and putting Ryan on their BOD.

I can agree with all your points, and they're very good, but 'superior' is not the same as perfect. In my view they're just the best there is.

Foreign news sources are much the same as CNN and MSNBC though, when traveling, I thought Deutschworld did a very good job at digging a bit deeper rather than just the superficial headlines. BBC, among the better known outlets, is likely the worst. I can see why the US is not popular with traditional European allies given the anti American propaganda on constant display.

Tucker Carlson, btw, among others, has said how difficult it is to get Democrats to debate. They're more likely to go to friendlier venues. However his approach, and disparaging laugh, may also discourage opposing views.

Your bar for winning must be set real low... It's pretty bad when even Ted Koppel is calling out the MSM, and CNN.

Perhaps another network will then have to move towards the 'niche market' Fox created. CNN or MSNBC, under new management could do it, or even Sinclair or Rush Limbaugh's EIB. I'd buy shares if it ever those last two came to market.

I have noticed that the BBC is a propaganda machine as well. You will tend to find more stuff reported than on US networks though. This is not surprising though as the US is essentially owned in large part by UK banking interests.

Any way you slice it or dice it - we are not getting the truth from our MSM - while Fox at the moment is a little better (or even alot) than CNN/MSNBC ... that is not exactly a high bar to hurdle. This is like praising a professional high jumper for stepping over a 1 foot fence.

I don't expect "perfection" - what I do expect is that the most basic journalistic standards be upheld meaning -you report both sides of the story - all stories - not just the one's you think you can get away with. Fox giving air time to someone who opposes "The Wall" - while this is leaps and bounds better than the other two clown networks - is not the same as in the case of challenging a "necessary illusion" or some of the major Establishment propaganda narratives.

The Establishment doesn't care much about the wall, gay marriage, abortion, Stormy Daniels or other "hot button issues" (note that I realize I am likening the Establishment to a single group with a single mindset which I know is not true). These issues serve to keep the people divided.

What the Establishment cares most about is making money and maintaining the status quo - maintaining power. While there are many competing factions within the Establishment big money interests - it is not the things on which these factions disagree that one finds the big game - the 1000 lb tuna if you will. It is the things on which they agree.

Take Healthcare for example - Red or Blue - doesn't matter - the systemic issues are not addressed. Sure from time to time you have some lone voice calling out "Price Fixing" of drugs. Everyone then points to that person and says "look look - we have freedom of speech in this country - what a good system we have".

That lone voice is then quickly drowned out by the cacophony on the take .. and nothing gets done. Would you be the one to run against a herd of stampeding bulls ? Would you be the one to shoot the goose laying the golden eggs ? It is not easy and I can't say that I would stand up either - it is not exactly the politically smart thing to do.

On both sides you have enough of the political elite having their pockets lined by the healthcare lobby - that one - or a few- lone voices are not going to make a wit of difference.

It is a "pay to play" system - if you play - you get paid -and everyone knows it. Sure there will be some who reject that payment but, this is human nature we are talking about - the majority will play ball. It is the natural outcropping of self interest and greed.

Did you think it was for her good looks and charming personality that Hillary gets 250K a pop for a 15 minute talk at some wall street banker function ? Did ya ?? Of course not :) She is getting paid for a job well done. If you play - you get paid .. whether it is 250 K for some speech - 65 million for a book deal - on which the payer will never make back that money - be it a cushy lobbyist position - a seat on some board of directors - or numerous other things.

And it is not like this is even some big secret - it is an open topic and everyone in Washington will readily admit how influential the money interest are and now rampant it is.

From the time you start running you are inundated with influence - few get elected without it. Most that get into power are already in the pocket of some interest - or have been vetted on the basis of agreeing with that interest.

Its a simple numbers game .. the house does not need to win every bet at the roulette wheel to make money - it just needs to win more bets than the player.

Every time a regulation or tax law is made - the Oligopoly is sitting at the table - and perhaps they have a right to be there. The problem is that the person who is supposed to be representing the people - the little guy- is either in the pocket of - or influenced by the Oligopoly.

The Oligopoly does not win every table but, over time, table after table - the rules of the game are skewed favor of the Oligopoly.

It is the natural outcropping of self interest and greed.

Consider when GE owned MSNBC - The GE board of directors will then select the editor and set the agenda - those that conform will be kept - those that do not will not. GE does major business with Saudi Arabia. Do you think you are going to get fair and balance coverage of Saudi Arabia ? Do you think you are going to have commentary of any significance on the main ideas ... such as that belief in Shria is an anathema to the founding principles ? - and that anyone who agrees with Sharia - by definition - hates individual liberty ?

Come on - our media could not even manage to use the term Islamist. We had this big hubbub over the use of the term "radical Islam" -and this hubbub was justified. This generalizes the radical ideology - belief in sharia - (the root belief which leads to almost all of the terrorist actions) to all Muslims. Not all Muslims believe in Sharia = forcing religious belief on others through physical violence - Law.

What the MSM did not do is use the correct term = radical Islamist - and explain what this means. They did not bother to mention that - Taliban, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, Al Shabaab, ISIS, and various other nut job groups in Pakistan and other nations - ALL follow the same Saudi Inspired Salafist Sunni Islamist ideology.

We are not told that Saudi Arabia has been promoting this ideology around the world for decades - and arming and supporting these groups.

Instead - day after day - we are told that "Iran is the #1 State sponsor of Terror"

We are not told that the people of Syria on the side of Assad are there - not because of some love for Assad - but they fight to keep their freedoms. Syria is not Islamist - they do not have strict Sharia - they are "Secular". There is drinking and dancing in bars - dancing to "western music" Allah forbid. Women wear skirts and proper bathing suits - drive cars and do not have to ask permission from a man to be educated.

We are not told that the rebel opposition wants to take these freedoms away - that the whole "Call to Jihad" was on the basis of turning Syria into strict sharia theocracy. We were not told that the main forces driving the insurgency were Al Qaeda and ISIS and that there were no "moderate" factions that formed any significant force- and that the "so called moderates" that did exist fought under the command of Al Qaeda/ISIS.

No - instead we are sold some facade - that there is some force called the "Free Syrian Army" that fights for good -when the reality is that the FSA is Al Qaeda and ISIS.

We are not told the nature of the side we are on. Das ist verbottene !! we are not told the Truth.

Sure there are lone voices like this fellow ...
Virginia Senator Thanks Syrian President Bashar Al Assad for Saving the Lives of Christians
Open Letter of U.S. Senator Richard H. Black to President Bashar al-Assad Acknowledges US Support to Terrorists

    https://www.globalresearch.ca/virgi...ad-for-saving-the-lives-of-christians/5384338

So this post was way to long but - now to the question ? What exactly was the point of our support for the radical Islamist opposition in Syria ? and why has our MSM not been addressing this simple but critical question in any detail ?

Trump's response to Charlottesville has been taken completely out of context. He wasn't saying some of the KKK or White Supremacist were good people. He was talking of the locals in that crowd that were there complaining of removing the statue of Gen Lee. Same as he meant there were onlookers that were there to stir up hate against the KKK and WS. They weren't all good people just watching.

And you know Cohen was telling the truth, like he always has. Who was feeding Hillary the questions to their first debate? Who paid 12 million dollars for a fake dossier to use against Trump? Who back stabbed Bernie Sanders to make it easier for her to get the nomination? Who got the Attorney General to drop charges against her for destroying 32,000 E-mails so she could even run for President?

I suppose the excuse was to oppose the rise of a "Persian Crescent". A legitimate concern, but an odd priority given that Shia Islam is such a tiny minority among the world's Muslims. Arming up Sunni Islamists and letting them take and sell Iraq's oil demonstrates the astonishing stupidity of our corrupt ruling political class and its "intelligence experts".

Proving once again that "American intelligence" within the context of our secret police/intelligence agencies, is something of an oxymoron. Alas.

CNN = MSM = Fake News.

“It’s impossible to convey with words what a spectacularly devastating scoop CNN believed it had, so it’s necessary to watch it for yourself to see the tone of excitement, breathlessness and gravity the network conveyed as they clearly believed they were delivering a near-fatal blow on the Trump/Russia collusion story:

There was just one small problem with this story: it was fundamentally false, in the most embarrassing way possible. Hours after CNN broadcast its story – and then hyped it over and over and over – the Washington Post reported that CNN got the key fact of the story wrong.”
