The Common Core standards aren't bad. Read them yourself. However, a lot of things done in the name of Common Core are pretty reprehensible. It's actually a pretty broad set of standards, and pretty much you could teach whatever you want content wise, provided you are teaching a set of skills. I could easily teach Common Core as a conservative, and you would think that Common Core was a conservative set of standards.
