The worst thing we can have is anyone consistently downplaying the impact of this thing. I will not be surprised if Brisbane CBD is closed down next week, and that Government employees will be working from home.

This virus has taken on a life of its own. People at my mother's church are no longer taken collective communion. They're getting individual packets of crackers and juice as they enter the sanctuary. My son's university is going online and my child is being strongly encouraged to come home after Spring break, instead of going back to campus. My teenager's high school is closed and they're making plans to finish the school year online but will reevaluate towards the end of the month. My company announced that we should no longer come into the office but WFH for the foreseeable future. We're becoming a hunkered down nation.

Sounds like your community is well prepared. Too bad many people died during the H1N1 pandemic.

I'm in France, there is a lot of weekly activites I was participating in that were cancelled. They're closing schools starting monday, I don't really know what solutions would be found for children.

State of Colorado Update: 13 March 2020 -- 72 Corona virus cases (presumptive until totally verified by the CDC)

First Corona virus fatality in the state occurred today in the Colorado Springs vicinity (El Paso County, Colorado).

This morning there was one reported virus case in El Paso County, Colorado (recorded on 6 March). By this afternoon there were three in El Paso County, Colorado, and one of them has turned out to be an 80 year-old woman, who died. She had 'underlying' health issues.

My gut-feel is that we are going to start finding out about a LOT more confirmed cases in Colorado -- probably when sick people start streaming out of the popular ski towns up in the mountains to hospitals in Denver and Colorado Springs. There's reports of a LOT of sick people up there already.

Many of these people up in the resort areas now are jet-setting "globe-trotters" who have been in several, different parts of the world since the first of January, especially Italy, France, and, Germany, along with airports in quite a few others....

My wife, mom, dad, and son all got a severe head cold around Christmas. I got something two weeks later that turned into bronchitis, and I coughed so much I lost my voice. But I never had a fever, aches, or any other flu stuff. Just a cough. And I had MORE energy than I normally have. I painted a bedroom while I was sick with it. Whatever it was, it was weird.

But can we trust the CDD? Aren't they a bunch of LIEberal holdouts from the Obama era?

The more we learn, the more it's really about infected areas and surfaces. When an infected person sneezes or coughs or touches something. they are spreading the virus. Take for example: Public transportation. Non-affected peoples could be in a bus or a hotel with an affected person, touch the same counter and BAM.

That's why self-quarantine is so key right now.

Yeah, never mind the Corona virus, you don't want to shake hands with people.

People are anticipating being stuck in their homes for a month. Just look at Italy to see how this might go. On the other hand, China had 17 cities quarantined.

See, my kids have the right idea about this. They're saying just use the shower! And they all think the panic is ridiculous.

Of course, today - once they found out the school district announced our schools are closing a week early giving us a two-week Easter Break, the kids seemed strangely okay with the panic!

    Hmm!

You mean... he downplayed it by comparing it to the flu, and having this hunch it wouldn't be this bad.
He got it totally wrong... had to call in the state of emergency. It's just being totally incompetent.

I would say more an overreaction than mass hysteria. They are scared and don't know exactly what to do. And because it was downplayed by trump for a month, now people are freaking out because it started getting noticeably serious.

He stopped travel from China and suggested the rest is a hoax. He said at the time that we have 15 cases and soon it will be 0.

Well it isn't zero trump, you freaking moron!!!

if this thing spread like flu, heck we have 20+ million flu case, but the COV19 is 10-30 more deadly than FLU, that mean instead 20,000 people, we get 200,000+ people die. freaking nightmare compare to all the wars we've been through after WWII.
