In 2020 those are all known as "COVID deaths" ;)

Meanwhile in my travels throughout Florida I'm seeing more and more businesses with signs requiring masks, but with no apparent enforcement, and with the neck-mask as the leading trend. I'd estimate less than 50% of people have their masks over their mouths, and less than 25% have their noses covered ---- and nearly everyone pulls their mask down to talk even if they were wearing it over their mouth before.

And that is a significant reason why the United States is arguably performing worse than any other country on the planet.

That explains why cases are spiking in Democrat run cities in Texas? Unbridled free markets where anyone can be a winner versus central control where everyone but the politically powerful are losers. How did you feel when Pelosi walked out of a meeting where she promoted the shut down of the brick and mortar retail and gave her hubby insider information to buy Amazon. After Paul and his friends drove the price up, he sold for a quick killing and stuck a bunch of Americans with the result of the Pelosi Ponzi operation. You want more of that? Oligarchs are your thing?

For the simple-minded who confuse correlation with causation, yes.

In the world of science, correlation is NOT causation.

I've seen the same sort of thing here along the Treasure Coast area.

It seems large amounts of civil disobedience to lousy laws is simmering very near the surface.

boy, my area (SW FL) is quite different, i'd say about 95% are wearing masks when I go to publix, walmart, home depot, lowes, etc... I did see 2 peeps at publix last night without, and correct, no enforcement that i'm aware of, at least I haven't seen anyone stopping them or confrontations, but i'm not going to be the one doing it, I just keep my space, do my quick shopping and head out. So wherever you are traveling the people must be ignoring common sense.

Publix has a store policy for masks, and they have supervisors very courteously offering masks to those not wearing them. That's what happened to a brother of mine shopping there.

WalMart gets a gold star for human empathy, as their policy allows for medical exemptions.

I travel a lot, all around the state. From the east coast to the gulf coast to the Florida keys; pretty much everywhere but the panhandle. I'm seeing the lackadaisical use of masks everywhere ---- from no masks, to masks on mouths only, to masks on the neck (the most common, LOL) but I've certainly not been everywhere so I'm not arguing someone else hasn't had a different experience either :D

This is a political event, and if you don't understand that, you will never understand the big picture.

The numbers in FL have been cooked and constantly misrepresented. Even the MSM has reluctantly covered this. They had to cover it because the talk is all over the street and in letters to the editor. Positive results to individuals who were never tested. Positive results increased by a factor of 10. Motorcycle deaths being attributed to Covid.

As Dr. Birx noted yesterday, the stuff is everywhere, and pretty much has been. The more testing we do of the elephant's body, the more we realize the body is pretty damn large.

The American people have been deceived in a big way. Many are starting to realize that, but some will never be able to come to terms with the idea that their government would deceive them.

Your argument being that refusing to wear a mask properly is not a cause for the virus spread in this country?

No, my argument is that wearing a mask has no particular effect at all.

Of late I am personally aware of 2 individuals who are fervent mask wearers who caught the infection within the last 30 days or so.

I'm just reporting on my local experience, so not here to argue differently and since i'm being generally cautious I'm not doing a tremendous amount of errand running, with that said, I was in 5 different stores over the weekend (which would probably freak some people out, but I had things to do) the stores that I do visit all seem to have stepped up and posted signs and the vast vast majority are compliant.

FWIW, I did go to a flooring store on saturday, it was only 3 of us in the shop (myself, the wife, salesman) we wore masks in but he wasn't wearing one so we took them off and kept a comfortable distance. It didn't cause me any stress.

Masks are not going to completely eliminate the risk of catching the virus. They provide some protection and that amount of protection, even if modest, adds up over time so long as enough people are engaging in said protection.

Nope, just a flawed system, which applies everywhere. Illinois was the most egregious example of all states. At least that we were made aware of publicly.

Everyone I speak to here in FL thinks our gov is doing a pretty good job, but then again I've moved most "angry" dems out of my social circle so perhaps I'm getting biased info, but I'm ok with that. Better that than listening to them complain about the sun rising every day.

    There's your problem. :)
A CNN survey released last week found that 63% of Floridians believe DeSantis “could be doing more to fight the outbreak.” That includes 88% of Democrats, 73% of independents and 27% of Republicans who would like to see DeSantis be more aggressive.

But having said that I'm getting some similar feeling as you. I'm to the point of saying fine.. Go to a Trump rally, if you can find one, and stop at the black market bar on the way home.

Maybe they didn't wash their hands or a variety of other poor hygiene factors. Masks are effective when used in conjunction with all common sense precautions.

    But wait there is more.
Statewide, the new poll shows 45% approval of DeSantis’ performance in office, while 49% disapprove and the remaining 6% are undecided. In March 2019, Mason-Dixon says poll numbers showed 62% approval versus 24% disapproval for the governor, while 14% were undecided.

    And more.
The Quinnipiac poll, conducted on July 16-20 in a survey of 924 registered voters, found 41% Florida voters approve of the job DeSantis is doing, while 52% disapprove.

The new Quinnipiac poll found DeSantis is in the red when it comes to his response to the coronavirus, with just 38% approval and 57% disapproval.
