I know many poor on Medicaid; it's better than nothing but it's very limited.

I don't believe you do, as medicaide is quite adequate. In what way do you think it lacks?

I used to be on Medicaid and I know many people who seeped between the cracks on their career path and now they have Medicaid. It lacks in terms of number of providers who accept it; especially in more recent years, here in NY and it is not adequate for dental coverage like emergency services; sure you can apply to get root canal coverage but it's often denied. Also, I'm not making this up.

And if it didn’t go to the military then countries like yours would still be eating sauerkraut 3 times a day. Now let’s be honest about the difference between the US total budget and the Discretionary budget. The US total budget for ‘19 was $4.407 trillion with only $1.19 trillion going towards the Discretionary Budget. Now add this new $2.4 trillion Coronavirus stimulus package to our Mandatory budget and US defense spending is even a smaller percentage, less than 10% of total govt spending. BTW, after the Coronavirus stimulus approval the US will spend close to $5 trillion on social services this year. That’s more than every country’s on the face of the earth GDP except China. France’s entire GDP is around $2.7 trillion and the US govt will give twice that amount to its citizens.

Since Obama depleted our military to the point there was a lack of simple field ammo then that made it only necessary to rebuild the most powerful military in the world. Hey but don’t worry, the US will start to save a lot of money by not footing the bill anymore for all the other piece of crap countries in NATO that haven’t paid their fair share in years. France included.

I'm talking about the speed of the hospital construction.

YEs, I agree you must shop for doc that accepts. That might be a harder proposition in rural area. MOST employer coverage for dentist also sucks.

That is misleading, 15% of the US budget is for the military, the vast majority is for entitlement programs.

Even in urban areas where more providers are available it's not like it used to be where Medicaid would cover the bill for a large number of tests for new patients. But, yes, it's far better than nothing.

Most decent doctors don't accept it because of its delayed & low reimbursement rate. Many treatments / therapies / drugs are not covered as being "unnecessary."

    I'll also add to this...

The reason that America has so few beds (2.8 per 1000) is because the American model is heavy on "same day" or "outpatient" treatment and surgery. America tries to avoid admitting patients overnight and having them languish in "beds". It's just bad all around. It takes up resources, it exposes patients to infections, the patients don't like it, etc...

The American model is such that patients get their treatment/surgery at the hospital, and then they're brought home and set up to recover in the comfort of their own homes, rather than languishing in a hospital bed.

It's a better system for many reasons.

Read this part of your post again. “...it is free...paid for out of general taxation.”

IF IT WAS FREE IT WOULDN’T HAVE TO BE PAID.

US road construction is free, federal and state gas tax pay for it.
My groceries are free, I use food stamps paid for by income tax.
My fire department and police services are free, property tax pay’s for it.
My car was free, my daddy paid for it.
My boob job was free, my sugar daddy paid for the twins.

My college was free, my grandma paid for it.

How so? the rules are the same for all sides.

Stop. Think. Is it possible that the legislative branch was designed to be slow acting without a clear threat? Two houses seems to be unnecessarily cumbersome to me. Overturning a veto is difficult. I can only conclude that as long as nothing is getting done, the gov't is performing as intended.

If it works, why fix it? Do we really want a gov't that is hyperresponsive to every whim that gabs hold of the national psyche?

Didn’t this happen with that fast paced construction?

Yes it did. Not good, but not enough to just indict China. Still, a valid point though.

And so you conveniently overlook the fact that the Income Disparity forces 14% of the population to live below the Poverty Threshold.

How kind of you ... !

Interesting list of freebies, but grossly incorrect. If your daddy bought you a car it was likely because he was making far too much money.

Besided offering such gifts simply make children more selfish. They think life is all take and no giving.

    Which spoils them rotten ...

Not one item on that list was free. Just like your healthcare. Just because you don’t pay for the office visit when you see the doctor doesn’t mean you didn’t pay for that visit in alternative means.

How does the percentage of the population living in poverty affect the fairness of US elections? If it is proportionate, surely the rest of the world is much worse off. Per Google, 84% of the world's population lives below the US poverty line. I would say that you are conveniently ignoring the fact that the US is doing quite well in distributing its wealth among its people. The poor are always with us; no economic system or set of social programs will change that fact of our lives.

Around 218,000 French military died fighting the Germans in WW2.

You never took a history lesson of WW2 and its apparent! And every year I celebrate that fact along with French friends at a military graveyard where both French and American soldiers are buried ...

Which is why you don't understand the meaning of "ethic". Look it up.

It means that we all contribute to the common expenses by means of taxation. Yes, my taxes are probably higher than yours. But for some very precious Government Services I have throughout my life, an otherwise Very Onerous Burden is lifted from my shoulders. One that is so burdensome it affects my lifespan because I do have remedies readily available. And you do not.

Which is apparently a superbe "Public Benevolence" you seem unable to comprehend. Which is why anyone here in Europe, at your present age, will likely outlive you.

Enjoy it whilst you can ... !

    KEY FACTORS THAT DETERMINE LIFESPAN

It's not just a matter of infectious disease. It's about "lifespan", and you cannot understand its key factors. Because you do not want to do so.

From the US Dept. of Health here: Tier 1—Life expectancy and wellbeing ... - Department of Health

A key determinant of lifespan is thus Healthcare. And when measured compositely the US comes in way behind other countries:
