…The iconic half of the Big and Rich country duo — unabashedly conservative and weary of woke record labels and group station owners — decided to bypass the traditional industry machinery and release his latest song "Progress" on Friday via two fledgling free-speech social media platforms, Truth Social owned by former President Donald Trump and the Rumble video community.

Within hours, he soared up the Apple iTunes song chart to number one in the world, supplanting such megastars as Billie Eilish, Kate Bush and Lizzo with lyrics that directly challenge the political notion that progressive ideology has brought "progress" for America.

Rich told Just the News on Friday night that the outcome of his experiment could be industry-changing.

"Here I am with no record label, no publisher, no marketing deal," he said. "I just got a song that speaks to a lot of people, and Truth and Rumble pushed it out there. And man, I'm really proud of what we did today."…

Way to go John Rich! Just The News reporter John Solomon tells about a new hit #1 song by the country artist that was just released. He bypassed the regular labels and distributors and worked with Rumble and Truth Social to try something different. The song is simply wonderful.

This is indeed great news. Another work around against the woke cancel culture. The message of this song is simply awesome and spot on. It is our message to Biden and the secular progressive elites.

No, he’s a country music star who cut this solo performance. Normally he performs with others under a group name. It’s in the linked article.

The artist name is John Rich. Prior to joining Big Kenny, he was the bass guitarist for a group called Lonestar. You can see him in the video in "I'm Already There" which is one of my personal favorites.

He has written some good songs, especially with Gretchen Wilson, when he was with Big and Rich, and a few others. He even wrote "8th of November" when Vietnam War songs were popular in the Country Music World in the 1990s. Others include "More than a Name on a Wall" and "Ira Hayes."

Going to number 1 on Apples ITunes is not what I call being a top song. It simply means a lot of people are downloading the song, which could be individuals or websites.

The only way to determine if the song is high marked is the Billboards Country Top 100 charts. And it is not there.

Personally, I prefer Brad Jenschke and his new song, "Morning Rain." But this is more traditional country, not the Country Rock that Big and Rich are known for.

I like his music. Country music is big time popular in this part of California. Only talk radio draws more in some hours. Christian stations are big here too. K-LOVE in particular.

This has absolutely zero to do with wokeness. If there is one industry that any one cand find their fit, it's the music industry. A musician entering an agreement with 2 multimillion dollar companies to push his product on Apple Itunes is not exactly bucking the system. It is a saavy business move to promote his work to his niche audience. Good for him. This has ZERO to do with wokeness. He has recorded multiple albums with record companies, could have recorded many more. He chose this lucrative, targeted route. That makes him smart, not a hero. This is not the first musician to try to cut out the middle man, or try to circumvent their label. Acting as if this were a revelation or a political stance towards the recording company is just stupid.

I’m sure he’d draw a large crowd here if he were to perform here. The song the thread is about would be a smash hit here.
