It's not about what they failed to do because the Democrats held a house of Congress or they were in opposition, it's about what they do when they do have control. To the degree they've had control, they've supported mostly collectivist spend and print policy.

Just cut out the middleman and have the federal government butt out of the economy.

I have a good place for the Liberal Progressives to relocate. There about 1000 sq mi of unused desert in New Mexico..............give it to them, wall it off, and let them deal with the rattlesnakes and scorpions. We could also place a door facing south, maybe?

They had little or no choice. Only a leftist president can expect to shut down the government over policy differences and expect the press to blame congress.

I am not saying Republican Presidents with split or Democratic legislatures should simply veto all their legislation (although that would be a good idea) - all I'm saying is that the policies they themselves have pursued, when they've had the opportunity - have not been fiscally conservative at all.

Democrats are irrelevant where we're talking about their actual actions and what they support.

To the degree they've had power, they've used that power to advance a print and spend economic policy, and to centralize regulation and legislation in the Federal government.

Like the Democrats on social policy - they talk big, but their actions don't match the rhetoric.

Reagan did. His only failing lay intrusting democrats to uphold their end of at least to different bargains he made with them. Bush on the other hand governed to the left of Clinton at least domestically. The REpublican House and senate brought the budget clse to balance during the 90's.

Whence came the idiotic notion that government is socialist in nature? Utterly ignorant utterances from the OP does of course not suprise me, but I just want to point out that the federal state is not socialist in nature. That libertarianism is synonymous with anarchism, and that right-wingers are all libertarian is also a very stupid idea. It creates a very false dichotomy of socialism vs. libertarianism in which they represent government and anarchy. All of the assumptions and notions behind the OP are ignorant and politically illiterate.

But, I actually like the idea. Let build a fence around a piece of wasteland and place all utopia seeking idiots there, let them try to build their own ideal societies. Anyone who thinks communism, socialism, or anarchism can actually work can just go there and see for themselves.

It doesn't quite work that way.

They are drawn to the shiny and must have it all, so they will come to a successful country, do what they can to turn it into their ideal MArxist utopia, and then run it into the ground and strip it of all success.

That's why socialism is a bad thing.

It seems to me we have been running this experiment for quite some time already, though on a less extreme scale. We refer to the "Zones", as States....and the "Walls" as borders. Replace Government for Utopia and Socialism....and it fits pretty nicely. We currently have Red vs. Blue states and governors/legislatures that trend over time toward one type of political stance or the other.

One need only look in detail at the economic and societal success of each to view the results.

You know there's more than fifty million of them in America? Maybe somewhat less in your neck of the world, but still probably an awful lot of them.

good luck. Let me know how it goes.

Personally I think it's best to just dump them in a vat of acid.
