The one thing that would completely destroy my faith in God is proof he exists.

Creation does not require an instant man scenario.

If *someone* made microbes and deliberately planted them on earth with the presumption that they would evolve into something else, is that not 'creation'?

Which "creationism" are we talking about? Hindu, Buddhist, Zoroastrianism, Shinto, Christian, Islam, Greek, Norse, Native American, Pastafarian, etc? What makes your particular creation myth more valid than all the others?

My belief is that G-d evolved.......
but Adam and Eve were created........
and before Adam and Eve were created Covering Cherub Lucifer led a revolt
by one third of the angels.......
that destroyed much of this universe..........

.... but ..... the whole thing was an exceptional teaching aid......
all has been recorded on something way beyond DVD, HD or IMax......
and we will all be able to view the footage after we die......
    but for now......
we are all somewhat psychic and we should be able to discern truth from error
partly through our subconscious memories of these events......
because there is a part of us that saw all of this..........

Rabbi Alon Anava termed the most ancient part of our soul... .a Shul...( my spelling may be incorrect).....

Strangely enough... even Richard Dawkins Ph. D. admits that he cannot rule out something along the line of that.......

    He is onto something......
yes... G-d evolved and attained amazing technological capability.......
G-d also gave serious technological capability to Covering Cherub Lucifer... which turned out rather badly..........
    the universe got blown up......
and the restoration of Genesis chapter 1 and 2.....
is G-d using serious technological capability to begin the restoration process.......

    Then whatever you do.......
DO NOT READ ANY NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE ACCOUNTS.......
none... or your faith could be destroyed...........!

Especially this one......... it is far too logical....... faith and logic cannot and should not be mixed!

I went to school in the 50's and graduated in 64. Evolution was taught in the old country school I went to while creationism was taught in Sunday School. Back then I don't creationism was even a word. We pretty much accepted both as the truth. That's probably hard for anyone today to understand. We never took it as it had to be one or the other.

Even in my old age today, I have no problem in believing in evolution and that god created the heavens and the earth. How, when and why, they are probably a million different interpretations.

Teaching evolution in public schools and creationism in Sunday School worked and works for me. Even today. I never saw the two as compatible and still don't.

I refer to the Biblical story, which is what is being discussed. The version you are toting is Panspermia without the meteors.

One of the options in front of us at this time is that
near death experience accounts....... present a philosophy that is
technically well above Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism or any other religion.

    https://www.near-death.com/reincarnation/experiences/mellen-thomas-benedict.html#a09
Another near death experiencer met Messiah Yeshua - Jesus during his brush with death.......
and also was shown a philosophy far beyond any denomination of Christianity that I have heard
    about.

The bringing back of fallen angel Lucifer to G-d
makes sense out of all the evil that has taken place
    throughout history.

An eleven year old was told during his NDE that Satan would be restored.

    True.......
and just as Messiah Yeshua - Jesus promised that in the future.....
he would speak plainly of the Father... so also we have been given
a level of philosophy that has the power to get our young people out of
the sense of hopelessness that leads to so much of the trouble they are getting
    into.

    Christian Andreason, chapter 3:

    John 16:25

"These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father."

What he writes is sure worth serious consideration........
I have been reading the movie version of Heaven is for Real lately.....
and what Colton began to tell his dad and mom about his near death experience......
is beyond impressive in my opinion.

    Isaiah 11:6

"The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them."

Oh... .just as Mellen Benedict stated that there were lots of heavens above the Christian heaven.....(post #64)...... so also Christian
near death experiencer Pastor Bob Jones stated that he personally felt comfortable only in the first heaven.......
He reported visiting the second and third heaven but didn't feel so good there.....
because the level of light and energy was just too much for him.....

Pastor Bob Jones stated that Messiah Yeshua - Jesus, the FAther and the Holy Spirit were in the third heaven......
but that there were many heavens above that third heaven........
obviously..... this is philosophy beyond any particular denomination of Christianity.

Religion is a personal thing. It requires faith. Faith is a subjective thing. How can that be taught properly.

I don't think it would be a problem to mention the dominate faith of a particular country when discussing Nations of the world, but that is it.

Any more and the fuse it lit. Sadly, that is where I believe we are today.

    I am a janitor at a school....
and pretty much all that the school purchases for the school library is
some true stories..... and tons of novels that are seriously dark.... and
    obsessed with the occult.

I actually loved that stuff myself when I was a teenager but.....
it is depressing.... and I want to see our kids given more reason to hope.

They need to know that there is evidence that we are not going to die in nuclear WWIII.

Near death experience accounts are slowly but surely transforming
the way that people approach their own particular religious beliefs.

As I read more and more NDE accounts I have became convinced of Eventual
    Universal Salvation......
which takes the pressure off me to really try to change others.......
but I do feel that I should try to encourage and inspire others....
because this is awfully good news in my opinion.

It seems pretty straightforward. The country appears to want separation of church and state. Therefore it is improper for public schools to teach religion. OK for private schools. Since there is no evidence for creationism and since it is held as a religious belief, then it shouldn't see the light of day in a public school.

Personally, I'm not enchanted with the concept of separation of church and state. The first amendment prevents government from establishing or regulating religion. It doesn't prevent the mention of religion or even the practice of religion. So I wouldn't fight the teaching of creationism in public schools as long as it were taught in the context of religious belief and evolution were taught in the context of scientific evidence. I think every public school should have a course in comparative religion. It would help everyone, even atheists, better understand the issues.

I am a man of faith. Far too many extraordinary events have occurred in my life to simply write them off as coincidence. The probability these events were simply that are too many standard deviations from the mean to explain any other way.

I agree the good news you speak of should be shared. But we were provided free will by our maker, and some don't understand what that means, or how it manifests itself in us.

Understanding America requires discussing why the Pilgrims and Puritans came to America, the First and Second Great Awakenings, the rise and driving of Mormonism into the Rocky Mountains, the thrust of Spanish-Mexican Catholicism to the natives in the American Midwest, etc.

We can't get away from religion and its motivation in the development of the United States.
