LOL: Flailing Virginia Democrat Flip-Flops on Sanctuary Cities.....

If (most) polls are to be believed, Democrat Ralph Northam is on the precipice of becoming Virginia's next governor. But he and his supporters are not exactly acting like people who are confident that victory is at hand. Over recent weeks, Republican Ed Gillespie's campaign has bombarded the opposition with ads highlighting Northam's tie-breaking vote to block a ban on so-called "sanctuary cities" in the state. Here's one of them:

It's true: On a bill to prevent sanctuary cities in Virginia, the state senate tied 20-20, and Lt. Governor Northam intervened to vote it down. A Republican later switched his vote, allowing the measure to pass, only to be vetoed by Clintonite and strong Northam supporter, Gov. Terry McAuliffe. McAuliffe unilaterally restored voting rights to convicted felons, and teamed up with Northam to beat back a measure barring the establishment of sanctuary cities for illegal immigrants -- yet Democrats act shocked and outraged that Republicans have pounded away at a 'soft on crime' election narrative. In any case, Northam is suddenly singing a different tune on the latter issue:

Is this the sort of behavior one might expect from people who are anticipating victory? Odds are that Northam remains the favorite to win on Tuesday, but closing with "our opponents are 'evil' racists who want to run down brown children with pickup trucks" smacks of desperation. Perhaps Virginia Democrats know that the race is uncomfortably close, and feel the need to strike fear in the hearts of racial minorities and other elements of the base in order to juice turnout numbers. Matt flagged this yesterday, but this is how Gillespie is closing out the race:....snip~

They are still predicting the Demo to win. It is a close race.

Things Fall Apart: Last Days Of Virginia Governor’s Race Has Democrats In A 'Circular Firing Squad'.....

Northam could be having one of the worst weeks in politics. Questions relating to an ad from a third party and now a liberal group abandoning him altogether after he said he would sign a bill that would ban sanctuary cities. Guy has more on that flip-flop; Northam, who is the lieutenant governor of the state, who boasted about being the deciding vote in the state Senate that blocked banning sanctuary cities. The Virginia Democrat surely isn’t acting like he’s in the lead. In fact, the attacks on Republican Ed Gillespie in the past few days have reeked of desperation. There must be something in the internal polling that has him and his people spooked because this has become a campaign that seems to be going off the hinges. First, Democracy for Action, the progressive group that called Northam’s campaign “racist” after the sanctuary city position reversal (via McClatchy):

A liberal activist group on Thursday labeled Ralph Northam’s campaign "racist," criticizing the Virginia Democrat running for governor a day after he declared that he would not support "sanctuary cities" for undocumented immigrants.

"Let's be really clear: If Ralph Northam wins next Tuesday, it won't be because he publicly backtracked on his commitment to protecting immigrant families, but in spite of it," said Charles Chamberlain, executive director of Democracy for America, a grassroots progressive activist based in Vermont.

Chamberlain went on to say the Northam campaign was running "the same old, broken, and racist playbook that lost Democrats over 1000 elected offices since 2008."

Yeah, that last part about DFA not wanting to be a group that labels people racist “willy nilly” is just classic since it’s becoming the Left’s favorite pastime. Alex Roarty, who wrote the piece for McClatchy, also added that this crack up undercuts the whole notion that progressive groups and the Democratic establishment were working together on a united front this cycle. That’s apparently not the case. If anything, it shows that the Democratic Party’s civil war has only just begun.....snip~

Yeah....the Demos want to run out the Clintons. The Younger Demos want to run out Pelosi and Schumer. Its going to make for some colorful moments.

Isn't their a saying about people talking Democratic
but when it comes time to vote,
    they vote Republican?

My offer to bet on a Republican victory, made when the Dems were well ahead
has never been replied to by conversation / Private Message.

Virginia, similar to Ohio is a good Bell Weather State.
My bet is still on a GOP victory. Not because I am Republican.
I am independent and voted Obama in '08 (apologies)
The current news ( not really news to anyone I hope ) about the Clinton funded
corruptions of the Democratic Party is not gonna bode well for the Democratic candidate. eh

Snatching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory
Is the Democratic Party way. Remember Dukakis.

That caused them angst, but in the end they chose to throw American labor under the bus and go all out for one world government.

Yes, but the ad about running over minority children is more heinous. I think most people saw throwing grandma off the cliff was an unrealistic joke. Using kids as actors with terror in their eyes and appealing to anti-white racism is more disgusting.

It reeks of no ideas and desperation.

Desparation is the face of the Democrat party in 2017. They know of no way but to triple down on alinsky tactics.

Trump Slams Republican Ed Gillespie Following Democratic Win In Virginia Governor’s Race
Trump says Gillespie, who ran a Trump-style campaign, “did not embrace me or what I stand for.”

President Donald Trump has backed a losing horse once more.

Democrat Ralph Northam defeated Republican Ed Gillespie in Virginia’s gubernatorial election on Tuesday, the first major loss for the GOP since Trump’s election last year. The president had thrown his support behind Gillespie on Twitter and attacked his opponent in the lead-up to the election.

On Tuesday night, however, Trump blamed the Republican for his loss.

“Ed Gillespie worked hard but did not embrace me or what I stand for,” the president tweeted the midst of his 12-day trip to Asia.

Ed Gillespie worked hard but did not embrace me or what I stand for. Don’t forget, Republicans won 4 out of 4 House seats, and with the economy doing record numbers, we will continue to win, even bigger than before!

    — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 8, 2017
Earlier Tuesday, Trump had urged Virginians to vote for Gillespie and said he would “totally turn around” what he called “high crime and poor economic performance” in the state. The president also recorded a robocall expressing his support, saying the Republican would “help make America great again.”

 I wonder if it was the robocalling that tipped the balance.

The VA results prove the OP to be wrong!

And not just wrong but very wrong!

    http://results.elections.virginia.gov/vaelections/2017 November General/Site/Statewide.html

Then there are the massive losses for the GOP in the VA General Assembly too.

So far the Dems have overturned 13 GOP seats and there are another 7 still to be decided which is enough to give the Dems control if they win 4 out of those 7.

By the way, I love how much Trump sounds like a cult leader here. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth, sayeth TRUMP.

The "GOP dream" involves electing more RINOs.
Why would Trump or his supporters want to see another RINO win an election?
