Congressional Democrats are ditching House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s ardent opposition to any barrier or wall along the U.S. border with Mexico, as the partial government shutdown continues and President Donald Trump takes his case directly to the border itself.

    https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/01/10/democrats-crack-on-the-wall/

Perhaps dems have seen internal polling on border security.

Perhaps its because the new house does not wish to squander its political capital before a supreme court replacement.

Or perhaps its because of Trump sticking firm.

But it sounds like dems are coming around.

At least enough to go around Chuck and Nancy.

Im looking forward to Trump speaking about the wall at the SOTU address.

LOL. You guys crack me up. CNN is fake news until they state something you like and then it becomes the holy grail.

You are getting desperate in spinning this. Tomorrow Trump will own the longest shutdown in history. Finally a real milestone he can brag about.

Or maybe he goes the National Emergency route knowing it would be tied up in courts just hoping everyone forgets about it.

It is not CNN that is raising eyebrows...

Collin Peterson (D) Minnesota stated that he is receiving feedback that supports the wall at a ratio of 13.4 to 1
He also mentioned than many of his fellow House members are also in the same range.

Meanwhile, Brad Parscale stated on Wednesday that Trump's internal polling has never been higher.

And Trump himself stated during a press conference this week that the direct feedback has been very strong in favor of the wall.

If the Dems thought Trump owned the shutdown, they wouldn't be cracking on the wall one by one, as the OP demonstrates.

At any rate, shutdown will be irrelevant ancient history in 2020 while the wall will be standing tall, beautiful and impenetrable for the voters to see promises made, promises kept.

    What is a shutdown?

There’s no such thing. President has the power to accept or not to accept the budget that congress prepares. If the president believes the budget does not fully serve the interests of the country in one way or another, he does not sign it and the budget does not becomes the law. Thus, the Congress must come up with budget that best serves the interests of the country.

Thank you Mr. president for keeping the interests of the country as your top priority. Have a round of golf on us.

Simplistically put, of course, but should be comprehendable to a Democrats.

So we should ignore national pollsters and take their “internal polling” as fact. That makes sense.

Meanwhile back in reality, trump is the most unpopular president in the history of the country at this time in his presidency.

I agree. The last thing democrats are going to do is protect Americans from foreign invaders who they offer goodies to come here and sanctuaries to operate out of.

Apparently a lot of democrats want the president to declare a National State of Emergency. They want to use the precedence to invoke it in the future after a mass shooting to eliminate assault weapons or to fund climate change regulations.

I notice that when democrats say something and it is recorded the left ignores it. Fascinating.

Santa Claus is popular with everyone. The president, preventing Liberal Progressive Democrats from turning America into a banana republic is naturally unpopular with them.

I will clearly and succinctly explain to everyone right now why a wall is not a solution to the immigration problem.

In order for the U.S. Government to build any wall, the land they're building it on must be owned by the public. In order to obtain this property, the government will use 'imminent domain'. There's 1,954 miles of border on the U.S.- Mexico border. Seven hundred miles of that border is already secured under the Secure Fence Act (SFA) so that is publicly owned. On the Texas - Mexico border, which is 1,254 miles long, only one-hundred miles is publicly owned. That means that there's 1,154 miles that the U.S. Government must own and take away from private land owners. The Government will go to these land owners and offer 'fair compensation' for whatever that land is. But there's a problem, the landowner doesn't just say 'oh, okay' because they think their land is probably worth more. As with the SFA, the landowners will actually go to court. Today, there are currently 120 cases still in federal court dating back 13 years as a result of the Secure Fence Act which is why the border fence isn't 100% built.

The fence isn't continuous, the border fence is like Swiss cheese. You'll can go to the border in Texas and literally see 100 yards of fence, then it abruptly ends and you can just walk around it. Land owners simply do not want to lose their land, it impacts them in many ways including grazing issues. Because of logistical and terrain variations the wall will not go directly on the border, in some cases it may go 2- 3 miles North of the U.S. - Mexico border which will in fact be giving Mexico parts of the United States. One rancher in Texas said that if there's a fence on his property and he needs to move his cattle he may have to get permission from the U.S. government before he can do that.

The Republicans are looking at the problem and find ways to solve it. The Democrats looking at the problem, and saying it’s insurmountable,no big deal, nothing to worry about, not a problem at all and actually, good for America. :nana:

Journalism isn't their job. Their job is knowing the mind of liberals, democrats, and progressives so that they can give them a good show and get views.

That makes them bad at impartial objective news but good at knowing what them dems might/will do.

"declare the emergency...[then] change the law"
This sums of the majority of conservative positions lately.
